Seriously... my 401k provider sent my distribution check to the wrong address. Aren't able to stop payment on the check unless my plan administrator sends me a form saying to.... I can no longer contact my plan administrator as their offices are closed and the company no longer exists. The administrator wrote in the wrong street address and had the check sent to my street address in the wrong state.
I'm now out of a little over $5000 I paid into for my retirement. the money is gone!
I've never felt the need to shank someone as I feel right now.

OK Here's some clarification:
They messed up and put MY street address with the WRONG City, State, and Zip on the envelope of the check. I finally managed to get a hold of the administrator from my previous employer (they closed their offices, but are moving into a new smaller one) and she's sending me the forms to get the check cancelled so no one can attempt to cash it, and a new check cut and mailed to me correctly.
The money is "gone" in the sense the check is lost, but it's getting fixed and hopefully all will be well.

This is what happened.
My address looks like this.
John Smith
123 Main street
Pittsburgh Pa 12345
There was an address for the new 401k plan but I forgot to put their PO box number in. So the address looked like this
401k administrator
Kansas City MO 54321
Somehow when they were writing up the envelope to the check they put my name and street address in the wrong place
So the address on the envelope looked like this
John Smith
123 Main Street
Kansas City MO 54321
Which isnt correct in the slightest
