Well, the community.
I've taken to browsing gallery's lately, and finding beautiful arts! But I've been seeing something that seriously urks me.
Every once in a while, I'll find someone that completely bashes the furry fandom, yet still submits art here... in a furry art community. Now, I am DEFINITELY not one of those people who are like "OMG UR FURSICUTING ME !!!!! EVRY1 FLAEM HIM NAO." No!
It's the "I AM NOT A FURRY!!! I JUST WANT TO SHOW OFF MY ART! I HATE FURRIES THEY'RE GROSS BUY MY ART!!!" And I keep seeing it everywhere. And I also don't mean people who aren't furries, but want to show off their characters or art in general. I mean people who say that they hate furries, that they are not furries, and that they take commissions lolololo.
Same things goes with furries who ARE furries, but they constantly bash furries! "I'M A FURRY BUT I'M NOT A PERVERTED FREAK LIKE THE REST OF YOU."
It doesn't work that way! It's called respect. And it goes for ANYTHING. Yes there are perverts in this fandom. There are perverts EVERYWHERE. There are fetishes I couldn't even imagine here! And though I may find it unappealing, and sort of creepy, I won't generalize the rest of the community as creepy, unappealing fetishists just because I saw a few creepy, unappealing people.
It's just... why would you surround yourself with people you dislike? Why would you dislike a group of people anyway, just because of some rumours and bad eggs out there?
STOP THAT. :(

Just like niggers have marred the black reputation, so have the nasty, yiffy furs ruined the furry fandom. I think it's logical that if black peeps can hate niggers, then furry peeps can hate nasty furries.
Not all black people are niggers.
And not all furries are freaks.
Though some are like that, opinions shouldn't be based on those few individuals.
I personally think it's wrong and downright ignorant to generalize groups of people. You know me! I make jokes all the time. But I think it's totally different than HATING.
ALSO just because you're part of that group, doesn't mean it's ok to bash it. ;D
Nothing will change the fact that I hate furries, not even it not being "right".
ALOT of furries are nasty. Look at this fucking website and you'll see that quickly.
But ok. I won't try to sway you. Opinions are opinions, you know.
And I am aware that a lot of furries are gross. That's what I'm saying.

People hate certain races because of a few bad actions, people hate religions because a few fanatic wackos spoil it for everyone.
It's like when you're in school and the stupid kid in the back of the class is bad and you all pay for it by writing a report instead of watching a movie.
I am all for individualism, not conforming, and expressing yourself, but I wish some people would use discretion. Not everyone is going to take too kindly to the fandom at first. Show them some good stuff first.... *then* corrupt them!
I wonder if there is a market for a "Self-Hating Fur" t-shirt... /:)
Im a furry, and i admit im a furry.
But there are some furries out there who are just
pretty fuckin ridiculous. Those creepy older basement-dwelling
kinda types....

Not entirely, of course. Lately there have been artists springing up who make a lot of really cool art [like... you, for example.]
But mostly, it's a rather fetish-centric fandom.
I used to just deny this and get really pissed off when people tried to point it out to me. Then I started 'being angry' at the 'furverts' who were making us innocent ones 'look bad.' loooool.
Eventually I realized that I've kind of embraced the sexual aspect of 'furry' myself, and, indeed, it's how I even got into the fandom to begin with.
Even if I don't upload anything sexual/mature myself, that fact will always be true. :/
So once I admitted to myself that I was being a giant hypocrite, I chilled out a bit.
Then again, I don't draw pictures, I just make music, so maybe I shouldn't be talking. >_>
In any case, there are still a whole bunch of people in the community who annoy me to no end. The ones who can't be arsed to type proper English. [Hardly unique to furries.]
Or the ones whose only reason of sending me an IM at random is because they want to typefuck. That one will always bother me. :]
That said, I enjoy my time here, it is a good place to be. 8D
And you do have a point! I will not deny the fact that many people here are "doin it 4 tha pr0n" but wishful thinking is something that I like. ;D Nah, 99% of the furries I'm friends with aren't like that at all, so I suppose, because I'm so exposed to the "good" portion of it, I ignore the fact that there's a bad part too! But really, it's that people expose themselves to the fandom, only to bash and exploit it.

That being said, I do sometimes like to gently poke fun at the fandom. Call it self-deprecating humor, but let's face it, there's a certain amount of silliness in the furry fandom. You can't take yourself TOO seriously when you run around going "I'M A WOLF-TIGER WITH WINGS!" and then dress up in an animal costume.
It's fun, and people should take it as... fun.
I'll admit, I have a problem with furries who take furry fandom WAY too seriously. And I do get a bit annoyed by people on here who are in a constantly horny state and draw nothing more than their characters getting inflated or something, but still... it's there.

My best friend is a furry, as well as his girl and other friends, so I can accept it. However, it upsets me that he sort of blindly went along with it out of conformity (SORRY BUD). He criticizes many "conformists," especially kids in school, and it upsets me because he is no better or worse (with his furry-following) yet makes himself out to be better.
That's what upsets me the most in the community (lol sorry for ranting...), as with nearly EVERY community: people who claim to be so different than the norm yet do EXACTLY what they're doing by using typical ideas as if from a pre-made template. I'm sure you know what I mean.
As for your journal, I know exactly what you mean. I hope I'm not really like that...I don't hate furries nor am I here just to whore out my art and sell out...fucking sell outs! AAHH *punches FA*
