Zombie Orpheus Entertainment Convention!
Alright I'm going to fanboy here a little and say I had a blast at zoecon today, even if its not a furry con! I went with
trakefur on a whim and we were both quite impressed. This is just a lil recap of the day:
The con is free but if you contribute $20 or more, you get a 'swag bag'. Not knowing what it was, we both decided to get one, figuring it would have a pin and shirt and maybe some random freebies.. Boy were we floored when we got them! This bag included...
- Guardians of Graxia, the board game. Yes, the full board game, MSRP $60.
- Zoecon Shirt
- Zoecon Pin
- 2 issues of the Knights of the Dinner Table magazine (no clue what this is but will have a look!)
- A pathfinder novel
- A random Reaper Bones figurine
- Munchkin Joly Jumbo D6 (with 4 munchkin cards as well)
- Fishing for Terrorists Version 2.0 card game
- Dead Money card game
- A poker deck
- 4 various Munchkin bookmarks
- A free voucher for a PC game from bigfishgames.com
All that for a minimum contribution of $20 o_o
Then we went to the game room and...
- For playing a game of Dungeon Commander, we each got a promo minature for the game (And I got to play the Undead Army, which isn't being released for another 9 days XD)
- 2 Magic 2013 boosters and 2 Return to Ravnica boosters for FREE to make a deck for a friendly sealed deck tournament, held all weekend, with extra cards being given for every 3 matches you play, win or lose! And then prizes for the best players on Sunday.
The game room was very very well stocked too, with all sorts of games I've played or wanted to play, most of them still in shrinkwrap! Free snacks and beverages were available right outside the room as well!
Also, they are filming scenes for Gamers 3: hand of fate, and attendees can sign up to be extra for scenes (sadly they were all full today). However, I've spotted every major character from the Gamers 2 movie either where they were filming or mingling around (don't know what Gamers 2: Dorkness Rising is? A movie I highly recommend for anyone that's played D&D, or knows anything about it, one of my favorite movies!)
Then in a bizarre coincidence, I ran into someone I went to highschool with there.. Someone I've had on my mind for awhile now, wanting to get back in touch with him but having no idea how to do so. Last I heard he was up in Canada for movie makeup schooling, and he was at this con as part of the filming crew! Sadly it was during filming so all i could do was say hi, hopefully I'll run into him tomorrow to swap contact info!
Overall I'm pretty stoked and I'm eager to go back tomorrow to try and be an extra as well as try out more board games! ^_^

How big was it....?
I'm about to try to play the board game.. gotta say the rules aren't well written XD had to look online for some clarifications and still unsure about some things. I'll just have to play it to see how it goes though!
its a con with nothing but table games....? board, book, figures? sounds like a fun one to go to.
figure the rules out and how it works...? if so does it look fun or one of those eh, take it or leave it games?
