A few weird thoughts.

After a nice week of being stuck without work and all of that...I ended up having a few weird thoughts I'd like to share. ^^
First...with the Trade Federation/Confederacy AAT - you'd think Lucas would have had a little more study into military vehicles. As far as armament goes, besides its primary laser, all of it's weapons, even its anti-personnel blasters are fixed to fire forward (and more specifically it's armament can't cover it's sides). Even a Leman Russ tank would be able to out maneuver the AAT since it's sponsons have a better arc of fire for it's side weapons. For that matter, a smart person would lay under the tank and slap a mine on it and bring it down since it hovers. The bigger flaw is that for a droid army - why is the tank able to accomodate four humanoid-sized droids when sneaky partisans can sneak in and overwhelmed the crew, then hijack it. It's better off if it was designed as a droid to begin with. Even the XR-85 is a better design in terms of being 'droid' powered. Had I designed the AAT - it would have a coaxial repeating blaster with the turret weapon, the antipersonnel blasters would be able to track around the side and rear arcs to protect it's sides from infantry and would not have any room to accomodate humanoids inside and be a single droid unit. At least then it wouldn't have so many flaws to exploit. (besides the fact it's a droid and prone to being taken down by even a Jawa ionizing blaster).
Secondly...why would anyone in the Imperium of Man use plasma pistols when even the Imperial Guard codex acknowledges that anyone assigned to a plasma gun is a dubious honor (like having a commissar attached to your squad). It's something that GW doesn't quite understand yet and you can tell when their special characters and troops pack plasma pistols and such when even a basic laspistol would be more useful. Really - for the "price" a combi-plasma is a better buy. Also makes you wonder why even Imperium vehicles suffer from Gets Hot! when there's enough room in even Leman Russ tanks for adequate cooling so the crew don't get fried.
And my last weird thought for now; why are Angry Birds lousy fliers? They are birds and even without wings, flying should be instinct for them. Heck, watch the Angry Brids: Star Wars trailer or the final cutscene for Angry Birds: Rio - they can't pilot anything very well (especially not landspeeders). :P I know this is a silly one but really - birds should know how to fly and unfortunately the Bad Piggles are better at flying things. I think it's time they ask Bloo from Rio how the heck to fly.
I suppose that's all for now - I just want to tickle your minds with silly postulations. ^^

The plasma pistol is a dubious honour for a Guardsmen (for whom even a small amount plasma flash is a trip to the med-bay) but for Marines and hardier Guards its a show of skill and a weapon of terrible power. I think the Executionor is the only non-walker vehicle capable of taking Plasma weaponry that still has the "Gets Hot!" rule and I was under the impression that its enormous cannon required cooling that took up nearly all of the remaining hull space. Walkers have a living being inside them and no space for cooling, so plasma is a genuine danger.
I was under the impression combi-weapons were rare outside Terminator armour and Orky bitz?
Unfortunately the Forgefiends are also vulnerable to Gets Hot! rolls if they use ectoplasma cannons. O_o Besides for the price in that slot - a pack of Havocs with autocannons are more useful.
