So if anyone here follows jewellery or auction news (guessing its a small group), youll know the Archduke Joseph Diamond (a 76 carat cushion cut diamond from golconda india and owned by Joseph August Habsburg, Duke of Austria and Palatine of Hungary (and if the allies after ww1 had made some sense and let him be, King of Hungary), to those that dont know) went up for auction today, after spending 17 years in a private collection, in Geneva, as part of Christies Magnificant Jewels sale, and, if it reaches its pricetag of nearly 25 million, is likly to disappear again into another private collection....
which kinda makes me sad....and, unfortunatly, making me hope Graff will buy it....least he put the Wittelsbach (ill never add Graff to that name and you should read up on the diamonds history....quite interesting) diamond up on display in the Smithsonian, but were never that lucky with most collectors
edit: was sold to a anonymous bidder....museums...get more funding dammit
