What's so cool about this game?

It has been marketed well I think.

Overall, I didn't like the game itself much. It had a nice baseline, but it wasn't very elaborate and it made some pretty crude design errors.

Then again, I played it back on release and quit after a few weeks. Maybe it's improved now...

I think it's a bit overhyped just like DOTA 2.

Dota 2 is actually pretty decent, I've played WC3 DotA for a looong time and I'd play Dota 2 nonstop if I were able to
I also got Guild Wars 2, as a ex WoW player and like 20 more MMO's (be it free to play or not) I can say that it is definetly not overrated, it's a good game with a good pve and pvp system that manages to keep the player attached to it quite well.

TL;DR: Play it, it's awesome.

DOTA 2 and GW2 are overhyped, it's true.

I have GW2 and about ten days into it I'm bored off of my ass.
Pros are that playing it with friends makes it entertaining as all hell.

Cons are...a lot.

I guess it all depends on the person then. Because I'm kinda contradictory to the popular opinion when it comes to games.

There were some few exceptions though, like Portal 2 and the two Batman games from Rocksteady. Those were not overrated at all.

Portal 2 had a nice story I enjoyed.

The batman games? The first one was fun. The Arkham City one left me somewhat...distant from the franchise. Though I blame that to not playing it, and wanting to so bad I watched let's plays.
