You don't speed up inking.

You just patiently ink.

Well at least that's how it works for me. I love using SAI for inking because I get all slow and methodical ahhh funnn.

Inking is so slow ;u;

That's why I just color sketches.

Still, sometimes lines are really pretty.

Idek I guess it's a patience thing? I'm used to having to slow down a lot in order to ink. I find it a bit relaxing?

I used to be into really meticulous inking before SCAD. They were really heavy on speed-drawing, and it kinda just changed the nature of my art. Even the stuff that I sit down and work hard on now doesn't take long for independant parts of the process.

No, it makes sense. I just find SAI is harder to ink with than OC because of the smoothness, and it makes me super OCD about stray pixels. It's a different tool, it just works different XD

The best way to color is to use the layer clipping tool in SAI, if you don't know how to do that I could
stream and show you? That way you can just color over a layer and not go out of the lines.

As for inking, I tend to be slow and agonizing myself, but there's the pen tool that can come in handy if you get the settings right,
it'll somewhat align and straighten out the lines for you as you draw. I could describe better over AIM though xD

Yeah, I live by Sai pretty much xD I don't know many shortcuts but I'll show ya what I do!

Inking always takes long, but I don't like doing it in any other program other than SAI, really ;w;
But, to help get clean lines, you can use the stabilizer/smoothing at the top! Click it and it gives you the drop down, I always ink and sketch at 10, because my lines are always shaky any other way, but it helps make them smoother! Playing with your ink pen settings always helps too!

And for coloring, another thing that's good is to make new brushes and mess around with the settings! Play with them a bit, maybe for a few images and figure out what you like doing! I have a few custom brushes I got from a friend for painting and WOW I love them! So It's really all about the settings <: Creating brushes and water brushes are nice for a painted look! Also, the layers and layer clipping tools are AMAZING. Deff try them out!

The gf sent me SAI with a bunch of onta's brushes, hah, so I have a number of things to play with as it is. It's all actually a little overwhelming, having so many things to change. I'm a really big 'meat and potatos' kinda guy. I need a pen and canvas, and for coloring, a way to blend colors a bit XD

Eheh, so I hope you can find something in those that would be something you like using! c:

You can use a vector layer :V

It still takes me a while to ink so I just am working on speeding myself up instead of trying to find a tool to do it 8D;;

A vector layer? D: I know what a vector is, but ahh... SAI is still rather foreign to me

It's the little icon next to the "new layer" one, looks like a fountain pen tip over a piece of paper. :)

Whole new tool set including curve and line tools, as well as weight control and by holding down your ctrl key you can move individual points on the line to fit your original sketch!

yep! I personally prefer just using the plain ol' pen tool to ink but like I said, speed comes mainly with practice and the vector layer is helpful if you're in a hurry haha

I personally like to ink using a subtractive method - meaning I just draw my lines in really thick, then erase around them to pick out sharper lines. I dunno much about inking over a sketch in digital media. D:
