The Mostly Compulsory MFF Report, Plus Other Things

Yeah, I know I'm a bit late to the game with the whole MFF recap, but there honestly isn't much to say about the con that hasn't already been said. MFF 2011 was my first furry con, and returning to it this year was a no-brainer. Was finally able to commission
mavuriku for a badge, got to walk in the fursuit parade, kinda sorta took over part of the Fursuit Performance panel (I spoke up a lot and a few people thanked me for sharing), didn't drink as much as I thought I would and hung out with tons of people (or at least said "hi" to tons of people). Getting to see Too Much Light was awesome; I'd been wanting to see the NeoFuturists ever since I read "43 Plays About 43 Presidents" and was happy to get the chance. Seeing the folks from Felines and Canines receive over $40,000 from the entire con ($30 of which came from my winning bid for a box of Hostess Cupcakes at the Charity Auction) was very heartwarming; getting woken up at 3 am by a fire alarm was not. A great con overall, and next year's pirate themed con ought to be just as good.
Other Things:
- Work is, well, work. Second shift sucks though, so I'm on the lookout for an actual day job.
- My mother gave me her old sewing machine, so I may try to do some small projects for a bit of side money. (She's used it to make a lion costume for me for part of my youth group's dinner theatre back in the day, so I know it can handle short-pile fur. Will have to see about long-pile.)
-Speaking of, I finally got around to telling my mother about the whole furry thing (She thinks it's a bit weird but is otherwise neutral). She's currently the only family member who knows I'm a furry; a couple of non-furry friends know I'm one and I wore Money at a Christmas party for my stepdad's side but never said I was a furry there. I'll admit that part of the reason I didn't say anything was the fear of getting a negative reaction, but the other reason was that I didn't feel the need to. I'm an adult and I don't live with my parents, so I could do whatever I want. Letting my mom know I'd be out of state would be helpful in case something happened to me, but I didn't need to go into specifics. To be honest, now that my mom knows I'm a furry it makes it a lot easier to explain where I get all these weird friends from. :-P
-Finally, my birthday is coming up next month. There'll be a birthday bowling shindig to celebrate. Details here: http://www.michiganfurs.com/forum/i.....p?topic=8445.0
That's it for now. Time to go prepare for the holidays...

Thanks for the update! We had a good time chillin' with you before the fursuit parade. You're good people.
Take care!
It is nice to be able to tell people if your a furry and not get negative feedback for it. Most everybody I told thought it was cool or didn't really care. I am only involved in the positive aspect of it so its a lot easier to tell people and even show them pictures I take at local meets and conventions and such.
I'll see you at the bowling meet!
