They're a good thing when you're starting out, trying to stay within budget, don't have much storage space, need to travel a long way to a convention, or if you're playing a character whose build is similar to your own. Currently, my only suit is a partial. A custom fit is still critical, of course.

I'd try to find a suitbuilder you can visit in person for measurements/alterations/lifecasting/etc. It'll save you a lot of time and trouble, not to mention shipping costs.
