So as of now I am still not a LEO (mew? ), but hopefully I will get some good news soon. Sadly, the last 2 oral boards I had I did not pass. Anyone who has taken one will know how stressful they are. If you think a normal interview is stressful, just imaging that x10.
On the bright side though my background investigation is going well. My investigator set up interviews with my references, went to my old house and talked with my neighbors, did a home visit at my current residence, talked to the neighbors here, and spoke with my mother, father, brother, and sister-in-law. No red flags have appeared in my investigation last I heard (and I don't expect any to). The investigator told me that I should know by the beginning of December about my status at the department. If I move forward it will be with a conditional offer of employment, which basically means I am hired if I pass the polygraph, psych, chiefs interview, and police commissioner interview (yea, still a lot more). So I am just crossing my fingers, because if I get a job at this department I can be in the academy in the spring. If not, I still have a chance with my 1st choice department (they still havent set a date for their written exam yet >.<).
As for how I am currently, I HAVE A JOB!!!! I currently work security for the largest independent auto auction in the United States.....well I am in training. Started training Monday, and I believe I continue till Friday before I start my messed up schedule of random 1st and 2nd shift days. I will have Thursdays and Sundays off, and sadly will no longer be able to make the CT Furs diner meet (work Fridays 2-10) . The good news is I finally have a source of income since I graduated in May. The past couple months have been hard just watching my reserves of cash get smaller and smaller as I tried to feed myself and pay for gas driving around the state taking police tests and looking for jobs. Hopefully I can finish my training with no problems.
Monday and Tuesday were not bad for training since they were relatively slow days. I mostly spent them scanning cars in and checking trailers. Today was tough though since I had to be up an hour earlier and it was auction day. Early on was not too bad. I trained on patrol for a little bit, then at the west gate checking tractor trailers, but the fun came around noon when they moved me to the east gate.....where the "fun" happens. I scanned out and inspected probably a couple hundred cars in my last 3 hours there, and while at times there was a slight backup in the line (when the scanner decided not to actually work), I don't think I did too bad of a job getting people out quickly without making any mistakes (at least I don't think I did lol).
On a side note, my mate
and her mother are talking in Polish while pointing at me and my mate is giggling -.-
