What is your favorite alchohol?

So my mouth was just all OMG BEER.
I’m on a dry campus right now, otherwise I’d keep a couple around. Not that I chug all the time or anything (I am actually an antiparty— this should surprise no one at all), but it’s nice to have one sometimes. I like the taste. I've never done anything stupid yet and don't particularly plan to. LOLOLOLOL
I haven’t tried a whole lot, but my friend got me “hooked” on Miller Lite (yup I’m a badass) and I discovered Abita Purple Haze (raspberry beer) for myself— probably my favorite so far.
I've also deduced that I like mead (SURPRISING NO ONE), whiskey (I'm already a bit of a whiskey snob), and some kinds of wine. I haven't seemed to like what I've tasted of vodka and gin that much, but I dunno.
I'm really interested in cocktails and mixed drinks, but I haven't really had anything more exotic than like, whiskey and coke. Which is nice, given.
Anyway, I’m curious I guess. As a fairly new, goodie-two-shoes 21sy.
What is your favorite kind of beer and/or other alcoholic beverage? What should I go try? LOL
sorry, random question is random, but seriously. I'm curious!

Rum and coke (cheaper) or whiskey and coke (more expensive) are really nice go-tos for mixed drinks.
For cheap beer, I'm a big fan of Busch. If you can find Honey Brown at your local grocery store (cheapish bottled beer) it's usually well received. Dos Equis Brown (amber) is pretty darned good for a mid-priced beer.
If you like mead, try your hand at dessert wines, especially Riesling and Gewurztraminer - both of which are often pretty good as non dessert wines, too.
My brother's girlfriend's family is fan of Busch. I might need to snag one to try sometime!
Thanks so much! I'll keep an eye out for some of these! :D
Three Olive root beer-flavored vodka's hellarious (smells moreso than it tastes). Crown Royal and Dr. Pepper's pretty fly too.
Thanks so much!
Last time I had 'blowjobs' was for the youngest of my friends' 'finally legal' birthday bash. Thinking he'd get us all back for each ordering him one (and we made him drink them properly), he returned the favor. I sexualized that drink for all its worth much to the lady bartender's amusement. Those were good days.
I was there when some really really drunk chicks tried them the real way for the first time and one of the girls like... almost swallowed the glass. It was terrifying.
How come you've avoided trying it? Showmanship lightens the mood for all parties involved, haha!
I wouldn't necessarily say it is a good thing for me, but it came pretty easily, to do the "blow-job" correctly the first and following times. Lawds, I just love the innuendos that think oozes.
It's just a hilarious concept in general. I watched the bartender make them for a bunch of chicks once, and they were like WHAT'S IT CALLED and he was too embarrassed to tell them so he made me do it because I was sitting there GRINNING.
In a bar. LOL
If you like desert wine, Tomasello Winery's blackberry wine is excellent, and their cranberry wine is a little less overbearingly sweet.
Regarding cheap beer, PBR is actually among the best of the worst. Milwaukee's Beast - uh, best - is also pretty good. Yuengling's Black & Tan is delightful, and hits way beyond its price class.
Öktoberfest beers are typically great, and pilsners are interesting but nearly never nasty.
I'm going to stop there; I could ramble on the subject of good beer for as long as you'd like if you'd prefer. ^_^
Hahaha, my brother and I joke a ton about trying PBR. We'll give it a shot sometime. I'll definitely keep an eye out for some of this other stuff too.
Too bad I live in the middle of Kansas. Sometimes it's hard to find a really decent selection. Like, you wouldn't think it's that different, but when I cross the state line, I'm FLOORED at how much more liquor is available in even just grocery stores. Kansas is the uncool. LOL
Noted! I may need to take you up on that at some point! :)
If you get a chance, I would recommend using red label Johnnie Walker/Teachers/Label 5/Black Douglas/The Famous Grouse/Glen Moray (cheapest ones) with coke, because they're not tasty enough great straight, and better ones like Chivas Regal or better Johnnie Walkers over ice as they are for blendeds, or any single malt (Single malts are usually all expensive however, bit of a snobs thing. They're not any better than blends, despite what the 'connoisseurs' would scream from the rooftops). I often prefer the taste of Chivas 18 to the same age single malt Glenfiddich or Lagavulin, it's a personal preference.
Otherwise, Irish Whisky is a nice alternative. Jamesson springs to mind, along with Tullamore Dew. Both are delicious any way you like them, neat or in cocktails. I like both, they're often sold side-by-side in most liquor stores.
When I was 18 I started my own minibar in my room to entertain friends that came to hang out, and I found a lot of very bad drinks and a few very good ones. You just keep experimenting until you find something that hits that sweet spot for you, and disregard what everyone else says about your own habits. I was never one for vodka and Jagermeister and hammering down shots, I drink purely for the taste alone (probably because I just embarrass myself when drunk).
Mainly, just have fun :P I have probably one-two glasses twice a week, usually when watching a movie at night. It's always amusing when people accuse me of being an alcoholic because I enjoy a light drop every third/fourth night on my own in comfort, when they're out slamming down 20 shots of Jim Beam at the local pub and staggering out vomiting. I love social standards :/
I like Jack a lot. A lot a lot. My friend got something cheaper once and tried to get me to drink it and I thought it was swill. LOL
I wonder if my local bars are equipped to make that! I know squat about the average collection a bar carries. LOL
I'm also a fan of Jack with Honey. There's a cheaper Wild Turkey that's a pretty good imitation. Pretty much anything that tastes tart/bitter/whatever you'd call it. So whiskies, gins, and all that stuff are good with me. I can't drink any of the vodkas or even most wines, though I do like some white wines.
Is that that Tennessee Honey Jack stuff I see sometimes? Or is it something else?
I haven't warmed up to vodka much either for some reason. I like wine though, mostly.
Uh, I think Tennessee Honey Jack is right. Pictures on Google look familiar. ^^
Only the best!
He's a Viking! We could probably find him at a time when he has a lot in his own bloodstream! :9
Thanks so much for the advice! I really appreciate it! :D
Don't like beer. At all. The amount of people I have had give me a beer and say "seriously, it tastes completely different, nothing like beer" and I taste it and its exactly the same as every other beer.
I don't mind a cider. Rekorderlig is a personal fav. The only downside is that ciders are so sweet you can usually only have about two.
For spirits it is usually bourbon and coke. Real classy I know.
Our local pub has a drink that's sole purpose is to get you drunk. 1 shot of vodka, 1 shot of Jagermeister, 1 can of Redbull. They call it a cardinal, and they make you have weird half awake half sleep dreams.
I keep forgetting that your legal age is 21. By then I could drink for 3 years. I sometimes wonder if it would help here raising the age to 21. It would stop schoolies. (wiki it if you dont have it in the US, too long to explain :P). But it might just offset the idiocy for 3 years.
It's probably for the best! I hear beer is kind of bad for you compared to like, literally everything else. I like it though-- gotta say, so far it's the only thing I get active cravings for.
I think I would adore a cider! I think my brother got something called Angry Orchard once... That sounds beautiful though.
Whiskey and coke for the win! LOL
That sounds... interesting. That redbull and vodka stuff! LOL
Honestly literally no one waits til 21 at all. I was rather exceptional in that I had never even been in a bar or anything until I was 21. Then again, I can't imagine it's much different anywhere else. Where I lived (which granted, is a relatively liquor-free state compared to most) we didn't seem to have anything that sounds as near stupid as that schoolies thing, but I know for a fact that there were crazy kids here and there.
It's kind of annoying, because whenever someone has an event it's always "free beer and wine", and I don't like both :S
Rekorderlig also make a pear cider which is err my gerd awesome. Some people also like to heat it up in winter, although I never really got into that. I need to try mead one day.
Redbull and alcohol messes you up. Really does. One of the only nights I have ever got really drunk I started with Cardinals, then moved onto Jager bombs. Pretty much every single drink that night was Red Bull based. I couldn't stay awake, but I couldn't sleep after that. Weird hybrid state of sleep. Then I went to a family BBQ the next day. NODOZ FTW!!!
I think I drank a couple of times when I was 17 but it was meh. It's still meh but I'll just be DD :D
Schoolies is nuts. Some girl died last week because she fell from a hotel balcony drunk. You would probably have something like that in Florida or California.
Heated mead is delicious. With spices, oh my god.
Yeah, I don't really get the point of drinking lots of stuff... I like the taste more than anything. I've been drunk a couple times, but meh. It seemed kind of pointless. YAY I'M DIZZY... what do I do now? Um.
But anyways, I love Sex on the Beach, which is peach schnapps, vodka and orange juice, with maybe a few others added depending on where you get it. And one called a Tight Snatch that I get from Green Turtle. Buffalo Wild Wings has the same thing called a Knockout Punch. It's all sorts of fruity and good. Kahlua is awesome, but a bit expensive. I put it in hot chocolate or just drink it on ice. As for beers, I've only found one I can tolerate. Flying Dog Cujo. It taste like coffee, almost. I love wines. Moscatto, Zinfandel, some reds, but mostly blush.
Thanks for the tips! I keep wanting to try mixed things and never know what to ask for.
I like Kahlua. Seems like another one that would be nice to just keep around and dump into stuff.
Cujo sounds good! LOL Is it a stout, then?
I like Moscatto, but wine is something I haven't explored very much yet either... All I know is that I like it... and it's fun to do art after drinking it. LOL
Its really the only alcohol I truly enjoy... Smooth and sweet if I had to describe it.
