oh no oh no(serious post)

so i woke up this morning to the sound of a low pitched whining sound coming from my computer
i lay where i'm sleeping because sometimes the computer makes the noises while it's hibernating. the sound doesn't stop and i hear the sound of my computer powering up from its hibernation state. this is not unusual. sometimes updates trigger in hibernation and the computer restarts.
but after it shuts down i hear this clicking noise. this is when i actually sit up and stare at my machine. i get up and i try to turn the compuer back on.
nothing. just the clicking noise filtering through the speakers
unplug everything to make sure it's not still on somehow or something.
wait fifteen minutes. plug it all back in.
clicking resumes but quieter
it's then i notice the burning smell coming from the case.
i open up the case and there's the same burning smell

we can't get it to come on but something else might be ruined too
i'm using my phone to make this message at the moment :(
i was actually getting ready to apply for a job more geared towards my degree but now i don't have access to my portfolio or even any of my art programs.
ahhh... i really hate to gripe about my situation. everyone on fA seems to have a sad story to tell and i'd rather contribute positive energy to this community than negative but damn... things are frustrating. i always feel super bad when i complain to people.
truth be told i probably would even be offering these little freelance commissions or offering adoptables if my situation wasn't getting more frustrating. :(
You probably just have to replace one or two parts, but disassembling it might be risky if you dont know what you're doing.
Sounds like it's either your motherboard or your power supply- or even both; Kratos had a PSU failure that shorted out the motherboard. Though it was a pretty instantaneous event; just shut down suddenly, followed by the smell of burning plastic.
and that sounds exactly what happened here :(
And then, barring that, I'd just call up your motherboard manufacturer and ask if they'll replace it.
