I stopped by the protest/counterprotest outside of City Hall today on the way home from work. The first legal gay marriage in the state had taken place inside about an hour and a half before.
Both sides had their signs - ''Recriminalize Sodomy'' and ''Ignorant Religious Zealot'' were the best from each side.
When I arrived, both sides were shouting at each other. The gays had a louder megaphone and much better chants. Half of the other side was chanted away and left.
Best line: ''Stop telling us what to do with our anuses...there is no god up there who cares what we do with our anuses!''

Very quickly, the freezing cold and free Ben & Jerry's ice cream cooled things down to a debate. A lady dressed in a black and white cow suit with udders extolled the virtues of sodomy. This city sure knows how to do surreal...
The out-of-state religious protesters took down their signs and went home.
I went up to the guy holding the ''Ignorant Religious Zealot'' sign and complimented him on his costume - white baseball hat, yellow hoodie, blue jeans, white tennis shoes. He looked just like one of them out-of-state protestors, but then I would read his sign and realize he couldn't be!
I wonder if they are going to be back again tomorrow...

They have one last try in the November elections. But I think it will fail whether it passes or not. Eventually.
