A Porn Manifesto

So, I've come to the conclusion that I have a lot of porn in my sketchbook. Not that this is a bad thing; porn is fantastic -- and I feel can be a candidate for art in some form or another -- but such narrow focus can lack subtlety. I want to make art that can be sexy or dirty without having to rely on explicit images of penetration or arousal, etc. I've seen a lot of artists do this here on FA, and I find it to be more effective. So I've got myself a new main sketchbook and I've written a few personal rules on the inside cover:
They say you make better work if you restrict your palette rather than paint with all the colors of the rainbow. Maybe having to work around a set of guidelines will help me not paint the same goddamned picture over and over.
1. No explicit images of arousal -- ie. massive throbbing dog cock.
2. No images of graphic penetration -- this leaves nothing to the imagination.
3. Any sexual contact must be at least to some degree obscured -- the "Austin Powers" rule.
4. Prefer to depict scenes five minutes before or after "the act"
5. If any of these rules are to be broken, there better fucking be a good reason. They say you make better work if you restrict your palette rather than paint with all the colors of the rainbow. Maybe having to work around a set of guidelines will help me not paint the same goddamned picture over and over.
