Novel project summaries
The Fold: A man lies dead in the underbrush deep in the jungles of Vietnam. Two soldiers lie before him: a childhood friend and his secret lover. Bound by the their mutual ties to their fallen comrade, the survivors delve into the world of the metaphysical to combat the inhumanity of the war and the lingering fear of death.
Somewhere out in space, an amnesiac man awakens from deep sleep only to find himself caught in the gravitational pull of an enigmatic stellar body called the Fold. He travels now from the south end to the north end of the Fold in the hopes of making his way home, plagued by apparitions and the grotesque natives of this twisted plane.
The Phoenix in The Wood: Darren Carmichael has murdered a man he has never met. But he will soon know everything about this man. This man, a prolific local journalist and poet, will soon become his best friend. And Darren will come to take the opportunity to step into the shoes of this man.
TPiTW is a semi-sequel to "The Fold" in the sense that they inhabit the same universe. The character that dies in the beginning of The Fold is Darren's older brother Brendan. The surreal dreamlike quality of The Fold manifests in TPiTW in the form of hallucinations and Darren's intense fear of deer.
Xenos: The passing of a comet renders roughly 1/4th of the world's population unable to speak or understand any Human language. What they speak now has never been heard before by Human ears. The world is thrown into total disarray and time indeed seems to stand still as the nations of the world try to decide what to do. Linguist Rowan Janson's wife and daughter are among the affected, and it has now become his duty to study this language in the hopes of understanding what happened and in an attempt to bridge the gap between the newly alien minds of these people and the minds of baseline humans.
Short Story projects:
The Okinawan Wishing Well: A dying Japanese man travels to a now privately owned Okinawa in the hopes that he can right a wrong he committed as a teen(the murder of a homeless man who turned out to be his father). It is said that a machine exists on the south end of the island that can transport a person back in time for a few minutes.
The Hero of Garad: The introduction to an epic sci-fi/fantasy series called Spindle-Sphere. It tells of a young bandit named Trogos, wielder of the dagger and sword Whisper and Roar, as he frees a small town from Gore, a minor Aspect who had a hand in his father's death.
