Non sequitur Theater: Dreams

General
Too long for a Twitter (not that I have one in the first place), not interesting enough for a Facebook post (or one of those), and I don't have a Tumblr or Blog, so here it is:
I've never been able to replicate a dream, that is, having a dream one night and then either having it again or picking up where the last dream left off. Partially that's because I hardly even remember the dreams that I do have (maybe once in a blue moon do I remember), but otherwise I typically forget a dream not too long after I wake up. I've tried it with a couple dreams that I've actually remembered, but nothing comes up.
What I have done, though, is been in the middle of a dream, get woken up by something, only to go right back to bed and continue having the dream. At that point, I'm still kind of in a dream state and the dream is still fresh in my mind. While thinking about it, I think that's really the only way to re-have a dream or to revisit it; you need to still have the dream very fresh in your mind and be in the same dream state in order to continue it. Otherwise, you go through the day, picking things up into your short-term memory that your brain has to process into your long-term memory when you sleep, and probably having other dreams (and at that point, you probably don't even fully remember the dream anyway).
Just some thoughts I had earlier today, coupled with wanting to post a new journal. Nothing really new to report, unfortunately, and it's too early to make any kind of Christmas journal post.

Which reminds me, one of the coolest things is when you kinda "wake up" or realize that you are in fact dreaming and then try to do stuff on your own kinda forcing the dream to do or go where you want to. Kinda like when you want to fly or go somewhere else, or do the stuff you never had the chance to do. sadly after a few, the dream is stronger and wraps you up in some silly scene and you forget that you are aware of the dream and bam, you are dreaming again whatever your brain wants you to and not what your concious wants to :P hahaha
Anyway, hope that you had pleaseant dreams ^^
Variety 1: I'll die/fail in a dream, only to dream that dream again (months later), remember what happened, alter my actions leading to my demise/failure, and progress further in the dream. One dream of this variety that stands out is when I was to assassinate a mob boss in his mansion. First attempt: I went through the mansion, killing guards, etc., then I climb a staircase up to his office, reach out for the white double doors, and my friend BULL-RUSHES through the doors, sending me flying backwards, over the railing, and killing me. The second time I dreamed that? I stood out of the way of the doors and shot him as he burst through.
Variety 2: I'll be in an entirely new situation, but in the same setting. As a result, I have additional contextualized knowledge about the dream I'm in because of events that occurred in a dream I had prior (could be months or years!). Example: Walking through a neighborhood and realizing a particular path was safe because I had ran through some of the streets before. However, the scenario in each dream was different.
Variety 3: Recurring dreams. I've only had this happen with one set of dreams, when I was little. I would be watching TV in the living room, and the Chronicle news team would come on. I would hear the jingle, and then they would start to climb out of the TV (this was probably about 20 years ago, btw, The Ring TOTALLY stole that from me :P) and attempt to kill me in a variety of ways. Sometimes I'd be able to get out of the house and they'd chase me around the neighborhood in an ice-cream truck, other times, they'd be waiting for me at the doors and I'd have to hide somewhere in the house (and they'd typically find me). I'd always have these dreams when I slept on a pillow I had (it was a doggie-shaped pillow). One day, we got rid of the pillow because it was so old. That night, I had the dream with them again. Before the music got to the second note, I was already out the door. They began to chase me in the truck again, I faked them out, and managed to run across the street to an ice cream parlor. I found my friend's mom there and she had me hide in her purse. The newscasters came up and asked where I was. She activated something, and they were all (including my friend's mom) were sucked into a genie's bottle. I never had the dreams again.
