GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition

Got One!
This camera will go everywhere my Canon 5D MKII can't.
Pictures are better than my last point and shoot, and much better than my cell phone.
It fits perfectly under my old dirt bike helmets visor, and even holds the visor up because it's broken.
The image quality may not be comparable to the 5D, but surprisingly it's low light performance is better when compared to the all purpose 24-105mm lens,
because the GoPro has an apature of 2.8 compared to the 24-105mm's 4.0
Still working out some bugs like positioning, the Black Edition wi-fi phone app update doesn't come out
until December 14th, so I have no idea where it's pointed when it comes to up and down.
I've been going mountain biking every day, even though it was -11 yesterday.
Plus the Red Bull Rampage was on TV, so that was a bad influence lol
vVvVv you can view my first ride with the GoPro here vVvVv

OP
someone actually makes an iPhone case for $150 that is water/shock proof like the GoPro case, has a wide angle lens, and even uses the same mounting parts the GoPro does... but I refuse to switch back to iPhone.

great looking trail, a bit different then the desert. I am looking to get some pointers. I went on my first trail with a freind this weekend but we didn't have much luck keeping up momentum, we ended up stopping about half way through when it turned into an all uphill climb through some switch backs. I couldent gain enough momentum to get up the hill because the trail was littered with lava rock and loose stone and pebbles from the trails lack of use, so i would get going good for a bit then hit a few of these and it would slow me and i would lose that momentum. we decided it was best just to walk up. maybe I just need more practice or is it just best to avoid the rocky uphill? rocks were on average from the size of softballs to marbles. and just covered the trail the whole way up. did we just find a bad trail? I am a total noob when it comes to mountain biking. so I dont know what a good trail or bad trail looks like. or if I am just biting off more than I can chew.

Up hill can be annoying at times (especially on a downhill bike) I've found that trails that have more up/down rhythm are easier for uphill, you might want to look into clip pedals, they're nice for all-trail riding to give you more efficiency. But I switch mine back to platforms for down hill riding and dirt jumping because I like my feet to be free. As far as gravel goes, you just have to go with the flow, and the right tires make a difference between night and day. I got mine for free, but they're more all-trail, the trails here are really loose too, so next spring im looking into buying the Maxxis Medusa's. a little tip for downhill riding on any bike, if your rear suspension allows you to drop it, that will lower your center of gravity. I've got a Fox Vanilla, which allows me to drop an inch on the shock, which is two inches on the frame. but you have to watch your clearance, I also overshot a 6' jump once landing flat and it bottomed out because it was still set up for downhill almost loosing it. What I did for that run was take the steepest service road to the top, which was like a 30 degree grade, so I just hiked it up.

If you pause your video at 1:17 it looked similar to that part of the trail but you have to imagine it going uphill in a curved line with sharp switchbacks every 100ft such as at # get me wrong though coming back down off the side of the mountain was the fun part haha

lol, 1:17 was actually where my rear tire slid out and I caught my foot on the ground. I want to get the chesty mount, because there is no sense of elevation with the helmet (plus you see more arms and bike with the chesty). the switchbacks are nice, as long as the turns are banked. all of the trails on this mountain were actually made by a bunch of mountain bike enthusiasts, so it's less natural like storm mountain, but so much better to ride. they only maintain it once a year though, which was actually last week. so it can get pretty loose at times, but the far side of the mountain is always less traveled and hard packed. I try not to slide around turns because that just ruins it for every one else, some of them get some pretty bad ruts in them.
