These days kids are getting everything they want!
Even though I'm turning 13 this x-mas eve, I'm not a greedy kid.
When i was 8 and 10,
I had a little make up kit, a butterscotch pony and some pokemon cards...
PPfftt, now kids that age are getting phones and i pads and short short short shorts that i won't even be able to wear when I'm 36!!
These kids need to learn that christmas is not just about money and presents and things that they WANT.
it's about being with family and having a good holiday.
It's dumb because eventually, they are going to WANT something else that they don't even need.

I don't like the crass commercialism of Christmas, the stink of desperation all the merchants exude because half their annual sales come this month. I also hate how so many people become more depressed and suicide rates go up because they are told they should be enjoying life with friends and family, and when they look around and have none, the pain is magnified 100 fold.

If you want to celebrate Christmas properly, go to a church service and remember what the holiday is about. All true Christians should do so because this holiday is for their religion.

Me, I'm a pagan and don't believe Jesus is the only son of God nonsense. I mainly do the decorating and gift giving to please others. I'd just as soon sit at home and watch a fun movie or play with my puppy than worry about it.

I love Christmas. I suppose it's just the rural setting, but Christmas around here is still pretty simple, for my family, at least. We just have lunch with our closest relatives, and then dinner with our extended family at the local rec center, where there's a little bit of gift-giving and then a Dirty Santa at the end of the night. Never any squabbling or fuss about who did or didn't get what gift, and no family drama to deal with.

my kids are too young to get all that expecive stuff even then they wouldnt get it. I just like being able to see my family that i dont get to see very often

Christmas can be a wonderful holiday if you dont buy into the shopping stigma and coporate/personal greed that engulfs us. Im pretty conservative on my gift buying so i dont put myself in the hole with money.

I love the lights...the music and the family get togethers with food.

I see your point. I celebrate Christmas because of my religion. The gifts are nice, but I don't mind what I get. I'm happy with whatever. I guess it's that the kids are young and if the parents have money, then they want to get the kids the best. But that's just how I see it at times.
