Sooo I've gone around and looked around for a decent RP community for my little pony Fim, and i came across the same pitfalls pretty much EVERYWHERE.
ALICORNS running rampant just because.
Textspeak EVERYWHERE from a generation im growing less and less able to relate to.
just rampant mary-sueishness EVERYWHERE.
SO! I decided in leiu of not having a GOOD rp community for ponies. I WOULD MAKE ONE.
could somone stop me now? please? No? okay fine. lets get this rolling.
Its still new its still fresh, in order to keep up quality all profiles need to be approved before Rp can be started. Also the Deisgn of the board hasn't been minted yet so bear with the look for now.

I think this is a good idea. I took one look at a local RP Forum and turned tail for the reasons you mentioned.
(and I'm not even going to get started on the 18+ subject harassment XP )

Last year a friend warned me that MLP was already the Sonic fandom of this generation. I denied it at the time, but...yeah. You're not wrong about the mary-sueishness; I'm guessing that more MLP roleplayers belong to the younger end of the fandom. Anyway, I've never been much into RPing, but ponies! so I'll at least take a peek even if I don't join in. Best of luck in this endeavor, regardless.
I know that the character is easy enough to modify down...but would still have to plan out a few things. I will keep an eye on things and see about jumping in!

She's real eager for test subjects though. I just have to set up the long-distance doorway thing she gave me and we'll be set... I think. She also promised cake, but I'm not sure I believe her.
As far as i'm aware it literally means 'a character with no faults whatsoever'.

Ever since people got wise to the basic form of a Mary Sue, there's been dozens of permutations. TvTropes wiki has a rather exhaustive study of it. Read it if you have a couple spare years :)

You seem pretty determined to strike a "just right" balance here. I certainly like what I've seen so far!
As convinced as I am that I probably won't have sufficient spare time to keep going for very long; I'll admit I'm tempted, really tempted to throw one of my characters on there, just to see what happens! (Though it probably won't be this one just yet, even though he's awesome...)
