Dreams
Our lives are always filled with dreams. Some of these dreams amuse us, some scare us while other perplex. It is with this in mind that I want to know what your dreams are made of. These can be your dreams, your friend’s dreams or a compilation of dreams, or better yet, a daydream. This is NOT a diary (unless your dream is in a diary format along with the supporting story) so please don’t use this as a chance to ramble on. This is a furry anthology of stories about dreams.
There are two main categories. One is Good Dreams, which have a positive ending. The other is Bad Dreams, which have brought darkness and fear out into the open. Here is your chance to chase away a ghost or two, relive a happy ending or scare the hell out of someone. Just remember, others will read this so hone your writing skills because most dreams are fragments and stories are not. And for the record, a daydream is still a dream so don’t forget that point!
Basic Guidelines:
*10,000 words max. (Query for longer stories before submitting with a basic synopsis and why you need those extra words – We might be willing to stretch the limit.)
*Word .doc or .rtf file, Times New Roman, 1” margins all around. No need to worry about double-spacing. Use Italics for Italics, use Bold for Bold.
*When submitting, include preferred contact info on first page as well as author name and submission title.
*Number pages and include author name and abbreviated title in header of each page.
*No simultaneous submissions or copyrighted characters that are not your own creation.
*Original stories only please, nothing that’s been in other anthologies or up on FA, SoFurry, InkBunny, or any other website or community.
*Email all submissions to jagdwolf[at]live.com Include “Dreams” in your subject line.
*Yes, you can submit multiple submissions, but in most cases only your top story is going to be considered.
What I want for Good Dreams:
*Childhood dreams, erotic dreams, and dreams that have changed or guided your life for the better. This is an adult, furry anthology not a diary. If your story includes SEX, remember the following.
*Any and all orientations – This is meant to be equal opportunity. I’ll probably divide them up into categories in the anthology, but give me gay, straight, bi, whatever.
*NO UNDERAGE CHARACTERS – At least not in any sexual situations. If they have to be in the story somewhere for storytelling sake, that’s fine, but they need to be out of the room and tucked in bed upstairs before the real action starts.
*Don’t copy/paste a story from a magazine. We will know!
*Be innovative – Develop a story that’s not just the same old, same old. Yes, stories with puppies under the Christmas tree will be given consideration, but unless they’re amazing, they’ll almost always lose out to something really different. Here is your chance to share, enhance and delight.
*Run wild – There aren’t any limits; this is going to be an anthology for adults still, so violence and/or some gore are just fine. However, don’t send me 5,000 words of nothing but gratuitous gore and violence, have a story to back it up.
*Furry – Don’t think I need to say this, but this is a furry anthology. You can’t give me a story with one monster and say, “There, it’s furry.” There are plenty of other anthologies for that. You dreams can and should be converted to a furry.
What I want for Bad Dreams:
*I want the stories that make the reader cry under the covers. These stories need to be told so real that when the reader puts the anthology down they will NOT want to go to sleep. These can be real life dreams or experiences that continue to give you bad dreams.
*In ever dream there is a lesson and I mean from the ‘I will not eat cold pizza before I go to bed’ to nightmares that can and do change someone’s life and perspective on life.
*These dreams can also be ones that make you think. You don’t have to give the dream away, but like any good story paint a picture so that the reader wants to continue to turn the page.
*Remember if you chose to write a bad dream that is from personal experience there will be the possibility of reliving that bad dream, so if you are not stable with this possibility DO NOT write in this category.
*If you are stable enough to share a bad dream that has a positive outcome, it is NOT a Bad dream but a Good one.
*Bad Dreams are meant to scare and instill fear of something. Please no milk toast dreams of buying the wrong nail polish color or buying the wrong brand of underwear but dreams that will make you want to go change that wrong pair of underwear you brought.
*NO UNDERAGE CHARACTERS – At least not in any sexual situations. If they have to be in the story somewhere for storytelling sake, that’s fine, but they need to be out of the room and tucked in bed upstairs before the real action starts.
