I hate realism in superhero movies.

When it comes to superhero fiction i think that realism sucks. Sure in live action movies and tv series there should be some realism so that things do make sense, but if hollywood is going to turn a comic book into movie, then USE the source material. When Movies try really hard to make their characters and movies dark, gritty, and realistic, it just makes me what to roll my eyes to the back of my head. I get that a character should be relatedable to the audience, but i personally find it annoying and idoitic. Now a days we see less heroes in costumes. All i'm saying is that why can't superhero movies be more like Watchmen, It may not be perfect but i definitly enjoyed it especially since i didn't read the graphic novel.

I can only guess that this is directed at Nolan's take on the Batman franchise. I personally found the realism refreshing, despite there being exceedingly little Dark Knight in the 3-hour-long third film. As to why the franchise went that route instead of being more like Watchmen...well, look at the catastrophes of film from the Batman franchise the last couple of times they tried to go more comic-y or cartoon-y in a live-action film.

I think it's a fine line to walk and one that's very dependent on the heroes in question. However I do agree that there needs to be a bit more willingness to accept the inherent camp in comics. Part of the reason I think films like the Raimi Spider-flicks and The Avengers worked was they more readily embraced the silliness without letting it consume the story.
