FA+

Its foreign.
Wiki Answer:
Manga (漫画?) are comics created in Japan, or by Japanese creators in the Japanese language, conforming to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century.
So Manga = Japanese Comics.
However Manga now encompasses all foreign comics Japanese, Korean, etc.
Anime
Wiki Answer:
Anime (Japanese: アニメ?, [a.ni.me] ( listen); i/ˈænɨmeɪ/ or /ˈɑːnɨmeɪ/) are Japanese cartoons and computer animation.[1] The word is the abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" in Japanese. In English, the term is defined as a style of animation originating in Japan, which often features colorful graphics, vibrant characters and action-filled plots with fantastic or futuristic themes.[2] The intended meaning of the term sometimes varies depending on the context
So like Manga. Anime is japanese/Korean Animated Series or cartoons.
...You're kiddin', right?
though alot of ppl know that the japanese also assisted in dc, marvel and other comics and with american style shows as well, like batman
Manga: Japanese comics/ comic books
Manga = Cartoon/Story/manga Books...
im probably wrong but that would make sense i believe...
HA.
only vary few have it.
Most anime become manga
Most manga become anime
To say one has story and the other doesn't contradicts itself.
There are bad animes and bad manga, just like everything else and its all about personal opinion.
It's 1 more thing ill never understand from japanese...two words for the same thing...
/ˈmaNGˌga/
Noun
A Japanese genre of cartoons, comic books, and animated films
---
a·nime
/ˈanəˌmā/
Noun
Japanese movie and television animation
that is true too. anime become manga ,manga become anime
but its all up to the one who is watching it or reads it, to say its bad or good.
You can't said that all movies have story or that all novels have story... some are just plain shit O_O
I just felt like I should throw in my two cents
Okay so yeah everyone knows anime/manga is the japanese cartoon stuff and it was actually first based from Walt Disney's work and then kawaii desu-ified.
Anime is cartoon.
Cartoon is not anime.
Rectangles are squares but squares aren't rectangles.
I think anime/manga can also be an art style, but it's like.. god i cant put it into words.
Say that Anime is a person, and they have their certain drawing style.
Then thousand's of people around the world, look at that person's art and replicate their style, and some change it just a bit.
So you have all of these people, drawing in this person's style and sharing it with tons of other people.
That's why I get offended when people categorize my art as anime.
I mean, I first started out drawing anime and crap, but I moved to cartoon and found an inbetween and just came to my own style. It's not anime, it's not cartoon, it's influenced by both.
</rant> oops
It's supposed to be "All squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares." You said it the other way around...
are made of epicmatoes
Anime = japaness cartoon :3
An anime is just an animated series/movies made in Japan.
Cartoon is another name for 'animation' as well.
They are technically the same, just anime is drawn differently and because of how it evolved, has become its own style of animation as opposed to just another word for 'animation'.
Manga is just a type of comic in Japan, and basically follows the same rules as anime when it comes to the evolution as to why we refer to it as 'manga' and not a comic.
that's a hardest question
Manga is the same thing but on paper and read in an order I still can't figure out.
They follow a particular style in both art style and how the characters and story are represented and told.
1) anime and manga do tend to be a bit more...teen - adult aimed? cartoons always are aimed at kids, but anime and manga go for all ages of audiences
2) the style is often different, cartoons use an American style, while anime uses a Japanese anime style
3) anime and manga is very very popular with all ages in japan and is "socially" accepted for all ages, but cartoons are only "socially" acceptable in america to watch until your about 12, after that you are doing something that is considered "childish".
people often say they are the same, but i do find them quite different because of the amount of content and such you have in them. When i think cartoon i think of things like ben 10 and tom and jerry, when i think anime, i think of things like Full Metal Alchemist and the like. cartoons and anime also vary quite a bit on the subject matter and such as well.
those are the differences in my eyes, of course you get the people who can't tell the difference/say there is no difference. ^^
Japanese comics = Manga
Japanese animations = anime.
That's all there is to it.
Has nothing to do with age.
Pokemon is aimed at children
gundam is aimed at teenagers
hellsing is aimed at adults.
a Style, so no matter where or who do it..
elongated thin bodies, big hair, faces very clean/simple. those are no rules, so you will find most natural bodies
big eyes, but just must remember that are characteristic from cartoons too
anime is the animation version, so the draw is simplest due the function
even some people focus to draw anime aspect for illustrations
To them, it's really just their word for animation and comic books. No different from what we have, in their eyes.
"Anime" is just a word in Japan for animation, which even includes Western cartoons, European animation, and so on. Itself derived from the English word "animation" (or, depending on who you ask, "dessin animé" from French), English speakers readopt the word "anime" to exclusively mean Japanese animation.
Same with "manga", just a Japanese word for comics and visual novels. Again, English speakers adopt the word "manga" to exclusively mean Japanese comics and visual novels. And same with "manhwa", Korean word for comics and visual novels, to mean Korean comics and visual novels.
Going even further examples, did you know that the Japanese words "kimono" and "katana" literally mean nothing more than just "clothing" and "sword" respectively in the Japanese language? Whenever we adopt foreign phrases that already has an equivalent in our own languages, we tend to mean that particular foreign item. Thus, Japanese words for Japanese stuff. What a way we distort languages. =_=
Despite the obvious strong influence, I don't like referring to my own art style as "anime-style". To me, labeling art styles is silly. I prefer to refer to my style as a common Asian cartooning style, because this "anime" style is no longer confined to just Japan alone; many other Asian countries are also using this style as their default cartoon style, most prevalently South Korea and China. Here in Malaysia, we even start putting sweatdrops and cross-popping veins in our own cartoons.
It's still just comics and animation, but with the stamp of it's home language and culture slathered all over it. It's no deeper than that to me, even though we don't have special names for stuff that comes out of Canada, the UK, or France.
and manga is the backwards comics that were originally in japanese and were simpy translated in english and other languages
I don't see it as a style, because there isn't just one anime or manga style. Tekkon Kinkreet looks nothing like Naruto. There's actually a lot of variety in style among different artists no matter what country the art is coming from.
