Rockin out till the new year!
Now that the excitement of Christmas has calmed and the days for consuming have simmered, its time for the New Year! And you know what that means. It's time to hear all the "this year was the worst yet, lets hope next year is better".
And you know what? I'm gonna pull some crazy magic trick on you and say that its not gonna be better.
You know why?
Because you've already set the stage by thinking this year was bad. I bet you'll say "But I got into a car accident and I don't have a job and I didn't have anyone around for Christmas." Or whatever else. And yeah, those things do kindof suck! I get it. But chances are, I'm going to bet that 99% of you reading this and thinking that have probably had pretty normal year. You just haven't recognized or refuse to acknowledge the good things that happened to you. They're pretty easy to forget in the wake of disaster and woe. Its so easy to just ignore the good and toss it all off like it was a waste.
You know what's hard?
Accepting everything as it happened.
Understanding why it happened.
Not blaming anyone or anything out of spite.
And learning from it.
Learning is the most important gem out of any experience. It isn't just something you do in school. If you just float through life without thinking and learning about how to manage this short time we have, then you're never going to see the good that comes out of every year. Out of every day.
If your resolution is to have a better year next year, make it instead to listen and observe better. Quiet your mind and enjoy what you can because things won't last forever and the years you saw as bad will eventually be the ones that you wish you could go back to. Worship and pursue the good. Listen and learn from the bad.
And before I start rambling on, I wish you all a Happy New Year! Shake that tail~

FA+

Good luck with everything, and have fun!
Rock on, big dragon!
*Shakes his fuzzy tail with your scaley one* I just noticed we're opposites! You're red, I'm blue (warm/cool opposite) and I have a white belly while your belly is black. I'm also fuzzy while you're scaley. Is it odd that I only just noticed this?
I tend to see the good/bad year thing a bit more simply as a comparing the situation on Jan. 1 of one year to the previous one. Not what happened during the year. It kindof gives a more objective view of the year. A good example is my current year. It would be easy to say it sucked compared to the previous, because there's a lot of fun stuff i didn't do, and there's a lot of things i missed out on, and a few things that i lost, and some stressfull periods.
But comparing Jan.1 to Jan.1... I have a better job, i have the same car, i have a LOT less debts, i've got a ton of little improvements on little things that in the end make things a lot nicer. So over all, pretty good year.
People often forget what they started with when looking at how good/bad a year was...
Also, herpy nerr yerr. :3
p.s. I have nothing bad to say about this year! It was actually pretty good, all things considered. :D
Of course, at the same time it's not good to be dismissive of people who have genuinely had a bad year, as is the case with some people.. There are certainly a couple years of my life I am glad are over, and this year is a good candidate for going down in history among those few! That isn't to say I don't take lessons from the past, but still, some things that happen just suck, and some lessons aren't really worth learning or something anyone should have to learn.
So I respect what you are saying and certainly agree with the idea...but I do remain sympathetic to the friends of mine of have had really crappy years, and also don't delude myself into thinking that the positive side to everything always outweighs the negative side, because life isn't always an up-and-up. In the end though, everyone experiences different things, and no two lives are the same. I do hope you have a really great new year!
This was my first year as an actual homeowner for starters!
Shake that tail everehday! :D
I think the best possible resolution for the new year is to tackle the low points of the year head on and learn from them what I can to make myself a better person.
Good stuff to think about though, and keep in mind.
I became buddies with Talash and Reva, got friendly with Razr, Thunper and Eddie, found 'Ries' again, who was an incredibly old friend from years ago, and got lots of art. I also found a great Uni to attend, and got a pretty decent job. Also bought my first SLR Camera.
I highly liked this year nod, nod, nod :D
Early happy New Years!
Bonne Année and happy New Years to you!
I know I did.
Got into uni.
Got a scholarship
Got the first new computer I've ever owned
Got a job...
Good year over here XD
