I agree completely! Good luck on deciding what to do, I don't thank for watches, I just try and make a journal everyonce in a while saying thanks!

I think it's up to the individual, I get watchers sometimes, even though I'm not an artist. Usually I'll thank them, but some days I just don't feel like it so I don't. x3

I guess I'm too hm... thankful or... dutiful, to not do it... but I guess I'll just do a nice picture for my profile-ID because I really am always happy when I get new watchers, which means for me, that someone likes my art enough to follow me. ^^

Personally I think it's a little silly unless there is anything else to say beyond 'thank you for the watch' - I just delete them!

I watched one of my favourite artists but instead of thanking me she went through my gallery and into my scraps to find something I had drawn myself and favourited it. I appreciated that a lot more, maybe it's an alternative worth thinking about if you feel like you really want to show your thanks!

Î do this, if I find some really amazing artwork. :3 And sometimes I just watch them back because I like what they do ^^ But usually, it's me browsing and finding them first :3

I get a little annoyed at thanks messages because I'd rather get constructive comments on my work than a copy-pasted "thanks for the watch"
I just remove them anyway so people leaving them are also wasting their time.

Yeah... it consumes time en masse. >.< No need to tell me. Even copy & paste doesn't make it faster. ... PLUS FA just stops posting messages after 15 in 5 minutes. XD

But ... getting constructive critiques is way more difficult. Especially here on FA. That's why I just gather a few people around me and always ask them when I'm doing something new or just finished a picture. :3 This helped me a lot, because I get my critiques and they get spammed by artwork, also sketches (which are nowhere posted) ^^

I thank people for watches 99% of the time I've only gotten a couple people back who tell me not to. It's courtesy I think usually :)

I think is spam, since is a repetitive mensage that you post many times on diferents places... Is like the viral e-mails of " 10 reasons why I really enjoy your friendship"... but as everything over this crazy planet, is a matter of opinions.

There's nothing wrong with it, but also there's a (kinda zen) true over internet that says : "If you want to be too personal you will end too impersonal".
People like me, than dont like that kind of mensages, write it on the profile, so there's a clue when is "good" or not, say it thx.
Personally if you want to say me thx for something, sculp me a bigass statue that says : "Here was Novago, the true cynic asshole of all time", that would be enough... for now..

Personally I don't really notice "thanks for the watch!" comments. Fair enough if I get 'em, and I do take them as honestly meant, but they also seem kinda formulaic.

I think you could try doing just about anything that was slightly different. Send people a note, maybe, or favourite something they've done, or just reply to some comment of theirs on your page saying, "hey, I see you +watched me, thanks".

Or even just say, not "thanks for the watch," but something different that says how you feel. "It's a pleasure to see you +watched me. Thanks -- it really fulfils me and makes me feel more confident about my art." But in your own words, of course. *wag*

I always like to here somone I just watched say thank you. Because to me it means your active and you care about who watches you. I understand some people don't have time to say than you too every single person, but its nice too.know ya know? ^^ just my.two cents
