In fairness, I believe that most such concepts are only kept alive, because people tend to hold this mindset int he back of their heads, ultimately ending up manipulating certain decissions and sending fairly bad vibes (for lack of a better term). What I mean is: Don't think about it too much and you will surely find someone one day who will keep you as happy as you make that person happy.
