DAFF Selection for 1/2/2013 human vs Dragon

Image type and characters - Type A digital mini comic showing a dragon eating a man,( the artwork was commissioned by shorty.)
Why this image was chosen - The dragons are 2 for 2 in this new year as apoptosis has put together a pretty good mini comic showing Shorty's human prey character Nero getting nommed. This was one of those uploads where I could see that it was going to be of pretty decent quality just by how the thumbnail looked. When I clicked on the full size image I was not disappointed and really liked how the dragon appears in the first panel (upper left). Not only does that face say to me "Badass and hungry" but you get the impression that he's looking right at you (or Nero as it turns out). In panel 2 you get a pretty decent looking maw shot with subtle detail and a huge tongue. Nero's already in pretty deep and apoptosis posted the following words about this cmoic when they say - " ... Nero, being held captive upon the roof of a dragon's mouth, a substantial tongue avidly keeping him in place while his feet dangle precariously over a tenacious throat, instinctively pulling at what's placed inside it. " what a nice short description of the scene!
When you look a bit closer at the picture you that the man is actually tied to the roof of the dragon's mouth in a unique bondage situation. In panel 3 you get the front end of the tongue tasting, possibly teasing Nero who is hanging over the warm humid passage to oblivion. In the final frame on the lower right you get a side shot of the dragon's head as it looks like he's trying to decide whether he wants to consume the man or continue to taste and tease him for a while yet.
I like the earthy colors in this comic and the use of the reddish background in panel 3 implies the inside of the dragon's mouth without having to do the detailing.
