You are overloading the mike sometimes when you move in. Moving in and out from the mike is an effective way to add extra dynamic range to your voice, but it can be dangerous if not calibrated just right. I suggest that you place your mike at the same distance and angle with respect to your face as it will be on American Idol so that you will be able to get it just right.
