Help me find a new laptop!

Well the MBP is toast, the issues to it are deeper than I hoped for, and it would cost a lot to get running. Thankfull I can access the data on it.
So..time for a new laptop. I might get another Mac, but I'm open to other suggestions. Only a few basic requirements:
14" or LESS
Durable
Long batter life
Acceptable specs for a modern system
NO WINDOWS 8
Honestly leaning to a new macbook.. I really liked the one I had

Are you leaning toward an Air or a Pro? Either way, they don't have optical drives anymore (which is probably okay with what you do?). I wouldn't spend the extra $500 on a Retina display either, especially when in some cases the non-Retina versions have better processors.

The non-retina Pros still have optical drives, but don't come with SSD's by default like the Airs do. You can't really go wrong with either, so just pick whatever 13" fits your budget.

well if your pushing towards an apple they have like 4 different laptops? im sure the choice would be easy to make
