3DS Help: Can anyone help meh with the Letter box?

I'm trying to send letters and such on the Nintendo Letter box
and well I've recieved two from 
ninja-mei but I'm struggling
I write my message and select Send, it then to send by spotpass, and select the recipients
I get the message of "Message saved, will be sent when next connected to the internet through spotpass"
I then go to the send & recieve button select it and it tells me I have no new incoming messages and non to send, when I do!!
I've tried re-installing it, that doesn't seem to do it... the messages stay with grey box around them, but ones I've recieved have a blue one
Anybody help me at all? or help me understand what I need to do?

I think I've had that same problem before. Sometimes when you receive a message, and you check it, then it won't say you'll have one. Also, once you know your friend added you, check back into your contacts list and make sure a message pops up saying so-and-so is your friend now. That's why I didn't get anything from you. Otherwise.. I think that's it.
