heeh sad thing is it had nothing to do with power. I had the whole setup on a very nice belkin surge protector. the laptop adapter died almost a week after the drives did and that was on account of it being a shit chinese knockoff XD the drives were executed by a glitch in windows XP involving multiple usb 2.0 hdds. windows freaked and started writing random shit across both drives. It was enough to murder the boot sector but once I buy a TB drive I should be able to use some software i have to backup nearly all if not all my files. Physically the drives are fine ^^

(Definitely, one thing I want too get next year - plenty more in the queue before it - is a little stack of 1TB drives and a suitable RAID controller, arranged for redundancy, and bring everything in the DVD-R archive onto the LAN, available instantaneously and reliably. Plus another pair arranged striped, over Firewire 800, for Logic and Final Cut Pro)

And yep, heartily agreed on FA. ^_^ Poor Yak seems to've half killed himself with the extraordinary efforts put into getting everything back up and purring along.. there ought to be a collection for him personally. ^_^

You know, I think I'm gonna go back up all my data after I finish this message, youve got me all paranoid now. Still, real sorry to hear how much data you lost, thats seriously harsh. Glad to see ya back on FA, I sent ya my message confirming my address for my CD to be shipped, cant wait to finally see it ^^ The anticipation has made me more eager than ever :p
