I keep wanting to write something

I keep wanting to write something, then I end up deleting it and not posting it because I'm afraid it rambles on meaninglessly. Sometimes it does, but most of the time it's just fear. I'm afraid of posting too much noise and not enough signal.
replaced your brain with a block of wood.
(For all the writing it seems to be capable of now, that is).
This is sometimes accompanied by the Slok Syndrome. For no apparent reason,
and more or less at random, you scream at the top of your lungs at the screen,
'It's all SLOK!!!'
Then you put your head through the screen. Well, block of wood, it's gotta be useful
for something. :- )
Hard to advise from a distance, knowing nothing but a terse jrnl. Hope a smile was
raised, anyway.
Will suggest that some pay-off may be found in bearing down and refocusing hard on
the Story Troika: Characters, World, Plot.
Characters: Gotta be real (in your mind and on the page).
World: Gotta be authentic, complete, can stand up to scrutiny.
Plot: Gotta show the characters solving some kind of problem this world has
handed them. The arc of the plot rises to an accomplishment (or a ghastly defeat).
Either way, things change.
Even a simple porn piece has to make those three things mesh. A story that blows
up super-complex can be a signal that they're not doing that well enough.
The more you write, the more conflicts and snags you hit. You lose sight of what
you thought the story really is. Wait, wasn't it all so clear?
Shortly after that there is a loud scream followed by a sickening <Crunch!>. Or a
<Smash!> as a laptop goes flying through a window. Violent business, writing.
Who knew? :- )
If it helps, you got it. (And I think I'm saving this; can't be said shorter than here).
