DAFF Selection for 1/15/2013

Selection for Tuesday January 15th 2013.
Artist name,

Image type and characters - Type B macro micro mawshot done in greyscale.
Why this image was chosen - This is no cave! Was a quote that came to mind when I got my first look at this picture. It is quite unique and shows a tiny person inching their way along the inside of a row of lower teeth with quite the view of the massive tongue below. Behind them is the entrance to the throat with convincing looking greyscale detailing that shows various levels of darkness as one goes in deeper. The artist says that one of the things they like to consider in doing an image like this is that the body itself becomes the landscape. That the micro in such an image is so tiny that insignificant features of the body to us would seem like monumental obstacles to a diminutive explorer. I particularly like the small bumps seen on the tongue and the darker shading further back in the mouth that give this scene some depth. The shapes of the gums, the tiny person and the small hints of drool round out what I can only say is a unique and interesting scene that I wanted to feature in the group.
Mukatkikaarn that is a very cool piece of work!
