I just got done reading that article right before you posted this, and I have to say that I was deeply touched by it as well. Some dogs seem to know the meaning of love better than some humans!!

That is very true and that is why I turn to my animals than to humans when I am depressed. They just know how to calm others. I have a GSP who is so close to me and even my other animals are that way but we truly have a deep connection with one another. She is a dog that would run away if she ever got out with anyone, but me. She stays next to my side, she knows when I'm sad and although she is a bundle of insanity she knows when to be calm around me. I am forever grateful for her and I truly cried when I read this article.

Yeah, my old dog was that way to (bless her soul). She would always be there for you when you were feeling down, and would always just be near you to try to keep you company until you cheered up again. She would also just sit there, looking up at you with the biggest eyes you've ever seen, almost like she was saying that she loves you, and is here for you. *wipes a tear from my eye* Sorry, I really miss her. She passed away about three years ago now, and it still kinda feels like she just left yesterday. *sighs, then wipes off my face* Ah, but I did have 17 wonderful years with her, so that's good. ^^

I am sorry for your loss, a few years ago we lost our dog to cancer. He was only 5 years. He was a rescue from a puppy mill and after his loss it took a long time before we were able to get another dog. About a year ago, now, we rescued our mini Aussie/Border collie mix from the humane society. She was in such a poor state, she had been a return and then no one had looked at her for weeks. When we saw her, she was only $50-something for a two year old small dog, so we knew she was about to get put down. When we came to see her, we were the first people to look at her since she got there, so we knew we had to get her. She soon afterwards got very sick (her auto- immune system was attacking her white blood cells) and almost died on us. And this was only having her for about two months. But now she is fine and healthy, but sadly she can't leave our house as she cannot get shots.

Thank you for that. It was for the best that she went though, she had arthritis in her hips really bad, and it pained her to even walk up to me to say hi. Now I know she's in a better place, and isn't in pain anymore. ^^

And I'm also sorry for your loss, I know how painful it is to lose someone to cancer. I'm glad you have a new one though, and I hope she recovers perfectly from her current illness.
