driving

I have a confession to make...I'm 19 and can barely drive. I've had my learner's permit for like 10 months now, and probably haven't practiced nearly enough. Every time I get out on the road i make some dumb little mistake, or even just swerve accidentally or drive way too slow or whatever. It always shakes me up when that stuff happens, I mean I'm operating this giant death machine and what if sometime that stupid mistake kills or injures me or my mom (who has been my instructor) or other random people, or even if no one gets hurt the idea of badly damaging people's cars just scares me. I also really don't like the idea of other bad or drunk drivers being around me cause I worry I won't react quick enough.
It seems pretty lame considering this is something many people can do without batting an eye by the time they're 16-17, but I don't see how! I look around and practically everyone drives, even if they dont own a car they can drive just fine. It's like even though I know what I'm doing with the controls I still feel like at certain times in the moment I have no idea what I'm doing. Trying to consistantly watch the road, and the mirror, and turn on my signal, and slow down/brake, and shift gears while changing lanes to make a turn....ahhhh i don't understand how you people do this so nonchalantly, it's terrifying. O_O

It all comes with time, playing FPSs helps with reaction time and multitasking. But its just one of those things that gets better as time goes on. The more you do it, the more natural it gets.
i've know how to drive when i was 19, but i quit because of the stress and my instructor, driving's not for me, but it looks like here in the US, sidewalks are a dying breed
I wanted to get my license when I was in high school but apparently I didn't have a birth certificate, so I was in college before I got my learner's thing. That sucked ass. Luckily my college gave free bus passes to all students, so that was ok, and when I went home, I lived in the middle of all my friends, so if anyone was doing anything, someone would always be able to pick me up. Dating sucked though (in high school). In college there were a ton of people who didn't have their licenses at all. Once again its cuz they didn't need one, and cars would've been an unnecessary expense.
POINT IS: If you can get along without driving, good for you. Just learn at your own pace. BUT! You should learn how to do it, and be confident about it.
