Wednesday:
I met up with the people I was riding with and we drove to San Jose. It was a long drive, but mostly uneventful. I did get to try Popeye's chicken for the first time though, it was good.
Thursday:
Not much was going on Thursday so we pretty much had time to do whatever. I started the day by going to breakfast with my room mates at Peggy Sue's. It was standard breakfast of bacon and eggs and was really nicely priced, a good place over all. After waiting around a bit
Roochi. another room mate, and myself went to The Tech museum across the street. There were some kids on a field trip there so it was a little crowded, but it was a fun and interesting stop. A little before 2:00 PM we headed back to the hotel to go through registration. I was a sponsor so I was in the short line which moved rather quickly. After getting my badge
Roochi and I went back to the room to get in fursuit and entertain the people still waiting. That was a lot of fun and I fireballed a lot of people while
Roochi leid everyone.
After a bit we got out of suit and headed to dinner with the other room mates. We went to a small Chinese place not far that is a lot like Panda Express. As we got closer we worried that they weren't open because there was police tape around the front, Fortunately they had the door accessible so they could run their business. They lady behind the counter told us that someone had been stabbed right outside which is why there was the police tape.
After dinner we went back to the hotel and my room mates went out to do stuff and I just hung out for awhile before heading to bed.
Friday:
I woke up before my room mates and headed back to Peggy Sue's for breakfast again. After that I went back to the hotel and got ready to set up my panel in the art show, I had 17 pieces to put in. Once that was all done the dealer's den was about to open so I headed over there. I picked up my Sponsor stuff and the badge I preordered from
Idess, I love it, it will be perfect for my tundra wolf fursuit. I then caught the tail end of the dragon panel. I went through the rest of the art show and picked up a bidder number even though I wasn't going to bid until later and caught the tail end of the Meet the GoH panel.
After that I went and got into suit again and saw Uncle Kage when I got back into the convention center talking to people and I just had to fireball him. Apparently he really loves fireballs so I'm going to have to play with that at some point. I then went and had my picture taken and hung around a bit before heading back to the room to reload on fireballs before the 2 and Kage show.
After that I returned to my room and got out of suit and went with the Fur What It's Worth guys to dinner at House of Siam. This was my first time with Thai food so I played it a bit safe and got the honey chicken, and it was delicious. Apparently I crashed their card reader when I went to pay, it took a long time for them to reboot it and everyone was getting antsy to leave, but we eventually got out of there so they could go do their live show. I had intended to attend the live show, but when I found out that the Adult Dragon Panel was scheduled for the same time I rethought my decision, so I went to the ADP which was awesome. So yeah, if you like the more sensual side of us scales, you should definitely go to that. After that I just went to bed, it was late.
Saturday:
I slept in...that's what happens when I'm in bed late. We went to another person's room for breakfast, they were making waffles. They were good. Then since it was coming up on time for the parade we went and got into fursuit for that. I joined a bunch of dragons for the parade and we all walked together. I was actually behind the same blue dragon that I was behind at RMFC, but I didn't spend the whole time walking on his tail this time so that's good. Once the parade ended we had the giant photoshoot, I'm somewhere in the front towards the left side if you can get enough detail to tell everyone apart. After that was the Made Fur You photoshoot, There were a lot of us, I think the count was 24. Then I went down to do the fursuit badge, They need more organization for that, I had no idea where to go or who to talk to and the set up for taking the pictures couldn't be worse. Needless to say, my badge didn't come out very well.
After that I got out of suit and some of us went to Hydration for dinner, it wasn't bad, but there are better places. After that I went to the art show to do some bidding and watch everything close, I had a tail go to voice auction so that was exciting. I ended up back in the room for the rest of the night with my purchases from the dealer's den. Some stuff started to happen a couple of times, but it stopped.
Sunday:
I woke up and some of us went to Psycho Donuts. It was a bit later so they were out of a lot already, but we then went to Pita Pit because they have breakfast stuff too. We got back and eventually made it to the adult art auction. I almost bid on a piece by
Rukis that was wonderfully framed, but I didn't because I have nowhere to put it. It would have been a steal at $125 too. After that I got in suit and ended up at the general art auction to see how my tail would do. It got up to $155, it was really exciting.
Sometime after that I got out of suit and found myself on my own so I went to pick up my stuff from the auction, I won 2 pieces myself. Then I ran across the street to Subway and took it back to the room to eat. I caught the end of the Baltimore game, but that wasn't a big deal for me because I don't really follow football, it was noise.
I got back in suit and headed down to FC:U. I got there right as it was starting and ended up going in and out throughout the show. After that I hung around the convention space for awhile before finally getting a badge for fireballing people before heading back to my room to get out of suit and ending up asleep again.
Monday:
We got up and went to Peggy Sue's for breakfast again, still good and still cheap. We hung around for awhile and it was kinda bittersweet because almost everyone was getting ready to go home. We made it to the Hiss and Purr and a lot of what was said was what I would have said so that was good. Eventually we went to dinner at Tandoori Oven. Once again it was my first time going for Indian so I think I played it as safe as I could and it was good.
After that it was about time for the Dead Dog Dance so my room mates suited up to head down to that. I had been thinking about going, but my stomach decided it wasn't happy so I stayed in the room a bit until it calmed down. Once it did I suited up and headed down to the dance. I then promptly died because the music was terrible so I decided to head back up to the room after about 30 minutes of dancing.
Roochi was headed back with me when he was pulled away by people creating a picture of all the red fursuit heads...beheaded...
We eventually got back to the room and got as much as we could packed up and headed to bed again.
Tuesday:
We finished getting backed up and met up with the other people in the van, loaded up and headed out. Stopped at Popeye's again, still good, and had another uneventful drive home. I didn't get to bed until about 2:00 AM and headed into work on Wednesday, that was crazy.
I was rather shy at the convention so I didn't really meet a whole lot of people and most I couldn't name but overall I had a fantastic time. I usually like to mix my conventions up on a year to year basis, but I think this is one that's going to be a staple every year. I'm thinking about putting together an act for FC:U next year, something with the piano in fursuit, but I have to figure out what to play and work out having a piano to actually play on stage down there. I also hope to be less shy next year so I can actually meet new people, but that will be a lot of work.
