For Groundhog's Day, here's an actual Groundhog's Day cartoon:
This 1935 Walter Lantz version of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is losing his rabbityness - at times he and his girlfriend look more like puppies or bear cubs. (Compare how he looks here with his appearance in this cartoon.)
Later, Oswald would become much more bunny-like, but at the expense of losing his black fur in favor of an all-white pelt.
