How to add more muscle to my computer? (Resolved)

Added: Thanks for the help guys! :) I went to services.msc and tweaked some stuff. I've bought 1GB of RAM and (nervously) installed it myself XD Everything is looking good! I'll buy another stick next month when I have extra dough :D Again thank you to all your advice!
Hi everyone :D So I've been thinking it may be time to upgrade my PC. I always open a lot of programs at once when I do work. My PC has been great at handling it my abuse to it. I think it could use a little more muscle :D (Like my Humboys!). Now, how do I add more muscle to my PC? :O

It's the company I'm planning on buying my computer from. They cater mostly to gaming, and they seem to go for a decent price.
Kidding. i'm no help lol.
Oh and you can always add more ram I guess.
Mine is going to be turning 5 years old by the end of the year.
and since it's that old , the motherboard is incompatible with the new stuff .
For example : My memory is still DDR and not DDR2
My hard drives are IDE and not SATA
I can't put a new graphics card because the motherboard doesn't
accept the new ones out there..
So basically I would have to buy a new motheroard with a new power supply most likely and all the other stuff..
in the end it's cheaper and wiser to just buy a new one ..
but if your is fairly recent i guess there's shouldn't be too many problem to upgrade it.
I suggest buying more memory and maybe a better video caard.

Newegg.com probably has what your looking for. See how much RAM your system can handle and then max it out; it took five minutes and my laptop runs like a dream now; though it does get a little laggy if I try to do everything I normally do AND photoshop....it's sort of a "work" or "play" kinda thing, not both at once.
btw it's important to know how much ram your computer can actually account for; my little HP pavilion 4500 tops out at 1 gig, I've got it at about 3/4 of that. Yours may be able to handle more, judging by the processor.
