This involves me voicing my opinion about upcoming movies. If you dont care, then pass on by. And yes, this can be a discussion journal for all I care.
So, their making a WoW movie. As in World of Warcraft movie, with the orcs and humans and the undead and stuff. But.....why?.....just......why?
I dont know what to say about this. But it's probably going to be another Tron: Legacy. And by what I mean by that is that im so dumbfounded by the idea, that IF I go to see this, if it's above what I expectto see, it's going to recieve a good review. Now mostly, thats how movies go, they beat your expectations, your happy. But like I said, it's a tron legacy situation. Which translates to, "if it's not the total piece of crap I expect it to be, im impressed". Now the reason why I watched legacy? Dray suggested we watch it to troll. If not for dray, I still would have never watches the movie cuz I was that adamant about not watching it. Same goes for this WoW movie, unless it involves the whole fight between that one guy.......illidan? And the lich king and all that stuff, or much of the big fights, but dueto those ones taking place over multiple years, my expectations won't be met, which means it's going to go to my other expectation, which involves me never watching the movie.
Same goes for The Justice League movie. Im a big fan of the JL, but if they have it committed to "we're only going to do it if this other movie is good", then you shouldn't have mentioned it at all.
There's so many things I could go on about, and I have the crotchety old man mentality to do it too, but im not. They have 3 years, or rather, 2.5 years to sway my mind on my expectations. But im fine with my current judgements.
It was bad enough they had a WoW expansion advertisement when me and dray last went to the movies, in the freakin previews! Thank gods I had only seen the ending 2 seconds of it when I came back from the washroom.
Ps: incase people think im insulting WoW, im not. I liked the game before I had people take it too seriously. It's fun, the story is good, gameplay and all that, and the freedom of what you can do is so fun~ -lightning strike in the background- im done being Mr. Expert! Im now, Mr. ManAndLegs~
On the bright side however, happy Chinese new years ^w^

Because then HOPEFULLY it'll spoil the whole game's story so that NO one will ever have to waste money every single god damn month on that piece of shit game! You watch WoW the movie and go "Great, now I never have a reason to play WoW. Thanks you guys!"
Perfect reason to watch it! :D
But...I have to agree with the "WHY?"--I mean, look at the things they've made into movies..."Battleship"? And did you hear they're doing another board game based movie? *rolls eyes*
And also...my greatest recent disappointment was "John Carter" from Disney. I was worried about it when I first heard about it...look at how they treated "Tarzan" from Edgar Rice Burroughs' works? But then Andrew Stanton kept insisting in numerous interviews he was "doing the books the way the fans wanted it"...and I thought, well maybe it wouldn't be so bad. And then the movie came out...in the 100th anniversary [month] of the publication of "A Princess of Mars". If you never read the books, it was a mildly fun action film...if you read the books, I'm pretty sure ERB's rolling in his grave many times over at how horribly "A Princess of Mars"/"Gods of Mars" was adapted. *sigh*
As for a WoW movie...it will probably have amazing effects and a ridiculous storyline. *hmmmm*
Kinda sad when yoi see something in a skit comedy show start coming true, lol
I agree. Due to it being a live action movie, id love to see how they do the effects for the undead, orcs, and all the other non-human species. But of course, when they say live action, they mean human actors and a whole lot of green. I think they should take one from the Aliens movies and John Carpenter's The Thing, so much prosthetics and rubber molding, THAT was live action. They only used minimal CG when needed, not the focus.
As for the JL movie, all I did when I heard about that was sigh, lol
I know...I come from the childhood of giant green monsters stomping through powerlines in Japan--when the actors wore suits. But even in Japan now they CG that stuff...even their super sentai series have a lot of CG'ed segments. Heck...even with their traditionally drawn anime, they insert CG animation for robotic elements (I love "Tiger & Bunny", but Sunrise is absolutely gulty of this...)--it looks disconcerting when you're watching fluid animation and you suddenly see the shiny edges of CGI.
And I also heard for the JL movie they wanted to have a "black" Aquaman. *rolls eyes* I think that's why they had the African-American "Aqualad" (Black Manta's son) in the comics during the "Brightest Day" storyline. *hmmmm*
Mhmm, and it isn't a "wow it looks so realistic", but now "thats cool CG". Like, john carpenter's the thing was all animatronics and stage props and synthetics, it had real things you could touch, nit just some guy in a motion capture suit.
And they have that for that young justice tv show as well, from what I've seen. Mind you, I think green lantern would be the extent of having a black person on there, aqua lad is a little out of cannon for JL, compared to John Stuart (I would love to see him in the JL movie, if they make it)
The director they got also said he ones the stereotypes for game movies, and wants to change it to make a good game movie. Lets just hope he does what he says, and isn't just an Uwe Boll arrogance.

I do wish it's a good movie, but id have to have a WoW fan tell me first. I dont think id have the drive to do it unless a World of Warcraft fan themself told me it was good.
