I want it known that I am perfectly fine with fan art, and I appreciate everyone who comes to me and asks if they can use my characters in a commission. I almost always say yes, because I love seeing other artists draw my characters. I also understand peoples’ desire to want to see more art of my characters, and I know I can’t always be the one to provide that, because I have so much on my plate.
I love fan art. I love that people enjoy my characters enough to want to draw them in their own style – or even mimicking a style I’ve used. It’s cool. But now it's time to address a situation that has been giving me a lot of problems.
I have revoked Droll3’s permission to use HTH Studios characters in any of his future projects, and have asked for his past artwork to be removed from any of his galleries.
He has made it clear of his negative opinions of my art style, my studio, and my business, even after offering years of our support and encouragement. I had even given him gallery space on my website because I appreciated his fanart. But, because he would rather get his information on troll boards instead of what is shown in Livestreams and stated on my forums, website, and social media outlets – I cannot condone his continued use of my characters. Even when I personally send him PMs with all the information, he doesn’t bother to get his facts straight. I cannot, in good conscience allow my characters to be drawn – let alone commissioned – by someone who uses trolls for his information.
I didn’t want to do this, but I’m tired of the complaints and the insults that have gone on for years. I’m done. Fan art should not come at such a price.
Despite what gets said about me, I am open to constructive criticism. That’s why I do my Livestreams with the mic on. That’s why Tyvara sits in and reads off your questions and that’s why we have the mods and admins on our site – to make sure everyone’s questions and concerns about the game get addressed.
Ty and I read every single email that gets sent to us. We do listen to your feedback, and we do work hard to make improvements and changes. I am still the only artist, coder, developer and everything else for High Tail Hall and HTH Studios. Just because I don’t do everything right away doesn’t mean I’m not listening to what people say. I can only work so fast when I’m the only one pulling the train.

It's the attitude in which criticism is given which makes it trolling. Droll sent enough PMs to me and Ty that his actions became trollish. I got tired of explaining the same things to him. I don't block everyone who comes to me with issues. I block the people who post lies on my pages and purposely try to confuse people.
Constructive criticism and opinions are not the same thing either.
Please keep in mind, there was a lot of ugly that went on behind the scenes that we do not want aired out in public. So unless you have all the facts, then you don't know what happens between me and the people that I ban. I do not go out of my way to ban people. It is the complete opposite of my interests. I certainly don't ban people for criticism. I need criticism. I need peer review. Occasionally I need someone to say "What's wrong with her face". But when someone comes to me, spamming me, harassing me, and in general causing the entire staff grief on a regular basis, I have no choice but to sever ties. Especially when the questions that have been repeated 10x over, take on a nasty condescending tone, and realistically offers no insight into what that person feels needs to be changed other than "This sucks, Crow, change it. And do it faster! And go back to your old style. And stop charging people." That’s not constructive criticism it's a badgering opinion. Just because I have an obligation to entertain my audience does not mean I have to take abuse.

HTH Studios is indeed registered with the State of Colorado, and is very much considered a business entity and therefore a company in good standing. This means it is subject to many of these protections you claim do not exist.
Also, yes, in the matter of copyright, as long as no outside profit is being made, HTH Studios creations would fall under "fair use" principles. However, if the owner of a company tells you NOT to do something, they are not only within their rights to do so, but can levy penalties or punishments as have been detailed in the journal. These are also referred to as "company policies". If Crow would like to, he can very easily file a document with the State of Colorado, titled "Articles of the Company", in which he can clearly illustrate and present company polices. :D
You see, that's the funny part about the internet, in order to even file a claim, your information would have to be sent to the other party just like with youtube, and there's an obvious fatal flaw with that as well, since 90% of the time the other end just wants your information, and can do everything in their power to fuck you over with it. MrSafetyLion, at the time of this writing, has posted an animation featuring your characters that has over 140+ upvotes (The highest upvotes any HTH-related stuff has had there) on e621. Would you do the same thing if it turns out he hates the game too? Would you do the same to me? To other twitter artists? To other animators too? If HTH Studios was a larger, more well-known company or a project like WILD LIFE, your actions would've single-handedly made the entire company a laughing stock and a cautionary tale about hostility towards content creators. That is a place no game developer would want themselves in, not now and not ever.
I don't think HTH will regain much relevancy with artists unless you've pubically acknolwedged that this was a grave mistake and show that you've learned from it, while reaching out and encouraging the creation of more fan-art again (Maybe a widely pubicized fan art contest?).
