Ransom, maybe you can answer this for me; I've heard talk of this new site called Weasyl, and I've heard of this 'drama' as a cause to join it, but not one single person is being specific about what this drama is. Could you please explain in detail what is going on?

Long story short, a member here has been stalking another user, and the administration followed their standard operating procedure of doing nothing helpful.

Regardless, Weasyl is ten times nicer than Fur Affinity.

So all the recent hubub was over an incident with one individual? That seems a little disproportionate. And when you say Weasyl is ten times nicer, can you quantify that a little? I'm genuinely curious what you view as an improvement and why.

On a visual front, it has a much sleeker design and more cohesive branding. Each artist page can also have a customized banner, which I love (but have yet to use, myself). Literary submissions can be accompanied by a full image instead of just a tiny thumbnail. Audio submissions can be linked directly from Bandcamp, at least. They also have better organization, with a mandatory minimum of three tags on each submission, and viewers can add more. You can have separate friends and watch lists, for added privacy, and choose which items you want to show up in your inbox. The collection feature also allows you to share your submission with other members, which is useful for collaborations, gift art, and commissions. The staff is also helpful, and they are actively working to further improve the site.

Basically, they do everything FA does, and more.

Firstly, thank you for answering my question and not telling me to 'go look it up'. I really, really appreciate it. Secondly and the rest, wow. Those are all improvements I feel would be useful for me (except for bandcamp, I suppose, seeing as I have no idea what it is). Nevertheless, A lot of those sound nice. While I have neither the urge nor the need to create an account over there, your description makes it very easy for me to do should either of those two feelings arise.

One last question, and I suppose this is fairly subjective: is it a furry site, a generic site, or is it the latter swiftly being turned into the former by sheer volume?

I think they advertise it as a generic art site, but in practicality, it's a furry art site. I've seen very little non-furry visual work over there.
