Empress Ambulance here in Westchester County, NY is like that too. i was rear ended back in 95 ona highway. My bumper only had alittle damage but the one who ht me got messed up becasue her Integra bounced off of me, got hit by a GTO then hit me again: totalled and badly injured as she did not have her seat belt on. (impact speed 1 was 50, second impact was 35). Long and short: my passenger andi were not injured and I made sure the ambulance driver did not touch us as that would justify a charge. guess what? They charged my insurance anyway. WHen I asked my agent why he said that irt was cheaper than fighting the charge of $175 ($now way above $350). This company has lost several fraud cases and still has a near exclusive contract in this county. :(
