So where did you get the idea of having a glowing bear as your fursona?

Aha! Right, story time!
I went on a Family trip to Egypt and we went on a tour of some place where they mined rocks and hand carved them into pots, animals, figures and so on. I got to see them work and the stuff they could make was very impressive. There was one material that they used (also the most expensive) which they called Moon Stone. There was a whole shelf of these pale green figures and (as part of the tour) they turned off the lights and the figures started to glow so brilliantly and brightly, the effect was very pretty to look at. Afterwards, I was browsing the shelves and saw a hand carved bear made of the moon stone. I bought it as my only souvenir and it's now currently my avatar on the left there!
