Image type and characters - Type A scene of a bird being eaten by a panther, a very unique style here.
Why this image was chosen - This image looks quite surreal, the technique is quite distinctive and has a background that looks appropriately tumultuous, chaotic. Flir's panther form is a "slippery shiny rubbercat" as quoted on their userpage and in this scene the rubbery kitty is having a tasty bird for dinner. The avian looks to be in quite a panic as he is being swallowed whole by a hungry and rather cool looking predator. I really like the looks of the panther in this scene, especially the shape of the mouth. I like the way the way the teeth have been done, the lips and detailing around the maw is very well shaded and colored. The tongue and saliva, (or rubber drool ) has a neat silver appearance to it that makes the bird look gooey as well. In the lower right part of the image the way the colors have been blended and highlighted gives you the impression that the panther melts into the background.
This is a nice and unique looking image, thanks to Ophyron for doing this very interesting piece and to Flir for sharing it.
