Second Life - Floor Fourteen Grand Opening March 1st!
Short, notice, I know, but...
March 1st, 5PM-11PM SLT, The Furpile's own Floor Fourteen will be hosting its formal Grand Opening event!
Floor Fourteen is Second Life's newest furry club, and we've got big plans to make it one of the best. Apart from some of the best dancers and DJs in SL, we're looking to make F14 a community beyond just the club events, with in- and out-of-club events, competitions, and even gaming. We know Second Life has no shortage of clubs already, but most of our staff have worked at several already; we know what works and what doesn't, and we're looking to bring the best of all we've experienced together into one club, with none of the drama.
Tomorrow (or tonight depending on your time zone!), our head DJ and one of SL's most popular furry DJs, Hunter Audeburgh, will be taking the air from 5-8 SLT for his usual mix of styles and humor, and our own DJ Kooshball will be taking over from 8-11 SLT for three hours of dance and electronic music to keep everyone moving! We have our best dancers ready to grab your attention, including our lovely head dancer, PhoenixAsh Emerald...and of course our assistant head dancer, none other than myself (as my original SL main, Serra Karu!).
We've got the club, we've got the staff, we've got the plans and the events, now all we need is our fans! That means you. If you're on SL, or even interested in taking a look, come on down and check us out; we promise we can entertain you!

The reason I ask is that i've been dying to start DJ'ing again, only I'm soooo tired of dealing with unprofessional club owners who are either too 'yay fun' and not enough pro, or nazi's towards staff. If you need an experienced DJ (I've worked at Club Radjins, IYC, Club Fortaelia, a pile of big clubs that went under lol I can probably scrounge up a reference or two but i'll be honest, I generally worked my tush off, only to have someone elses drama end up causing me to have to walk, and most of the people I worked for turned out to be really scummy people).
To be honest, it's probably not the best idea for me to ask this kind of thing but you've always seemed like a really decent person. If you're needing help let me know. I don't work (i'm disabled) so my schedules pretty flexible and i've probably spent a total of three years out of the past five DJ'ing on a 12 hour a week basis.
As for how pro we are...well, that one's a little tough for me to answers, since obviously I'm a little biased. Most of our management staff have worked several clubs before, almost all of us in management roles, at small and large clubs alike. Personally, I'm an ex AX dancer, and was the head dancer at Serengeti, a smallish club that was very successful until our owner went off the deep end (well, was always off the deep end, but stopped hiding it). I think we've got a good bit of experience spread among us, and a lot of great ideas. We're taking the club very seriously; we know it's going to be small at first and a slow start, but we all very much want it to succeed. We do lean towards "fun", of course, because that's what a club is all about, and we want it to be that for the staff as well as for the patrons, but we understand that there has to be some business in how it's run to succeed. It's going to be a balancing act. I think you'll find that we're all -far- from "nazis" though.
As for drama, the entire reason we started thinking about opening our own club was because drama ruined all of the others we were all involved in. It drove me away from AX, it completely destroyed Serengeti, after I invested so much into it, and it's been the same for all of us. We will -not- tolerate drama. We're spent a lot of time discussing rules and guidelines and general ways to keep it out. Our core management team is also a group of RL friends that have stuck together for many years now, through things that would have torn a lot of other groups apart; we're family now. We know we're not going to be dealing with splits in the management like we've all dealt with elsewhere; we can deal with anything and stay together. We're looking to assemble a full staff that that sense of family can extend to...and we're not going to tolerate people who break that up.
What do we expect from our DJs? As a dancer, I'm not that qualified to give more than a basic answer to that. I'll see if I can kick our head DJ over here to give you a good answer for that though!
Beyond that...the easiest way to see what we're about is just to come visit, of course! Right now we're only going to be open weekends, and slowly expanding from there as we build up our staff and patronage; tomorrow should be a great time to see if you like us though, if you can stop in!
And thank you! I don't mind you asking at all, I'm glad to have the interest!
I'll definitely check you folks out and hang out. If sounds like you really know what you're doing and I miss hanging out in sl. I'd like to find a place where I can chill and maybe get to know folks. I'll let the few friends I have who still hang out in sl know about your club. Thank you again for taking the time to answer. I feel like I came off really blunt and entitled and that's NOT how I would have put it if i'd just taken some time to phrase things a bit more politely.
