I totally understand. Trying to figure out the travel costs alone was racking up a considerable amount of money just to drive. There are a few small cons here but none them are as art central as this would've been. I'm waiting another week or so to see if I manage to find a room but if I don't have any luck, I'll probably wait another year. Leigh and I have been talking about possibly focusing our money toward moving out of our current house to somewhere with a bit more land because it would make us both SUPER happy (especially with our homesteading interests) so that may end up taking priority over cons anyways.

I may also just end up trying to concoct ways of having people visit my house without my dog trying to kill them. :B It's really difficult planning trips around a small horde of fluffy family.

Yeah, it's definitely intimidating. :/ I'm sorry there aren't more cons near you! I did read that you're moving, and that's wonderful! I wish you guys the best of luck.

Ack! Well, should the opportunity ever arise, I'd love to visit y'all! My job may have me traveling frequently-ish, so it is not out of the question. :3

Yehp, we should be cementing our plans over the next two weeks. The place we are looking to move into has horse stables and an outdoor kennel that we can let our dogs chill in when we do yard work. It also has more space in general than where we are living now so that will make it much easier when people come to visit.

:3 If you ever end up traveling to the Richmond area and are willing to work with/be around our crazy/angry old dog, we can definitely try to accommodate. :>

Ahmg, awesome! Holy moly. Does that mean... HORSES!? That's so cool, regardless.

If I'm lucky, work will take me everywhere. I don't mind, though I don't know a -lot- about accomodating dogs in terms of their territory and stuff, so if it becomes a thing, I'll gladly take direction to avoid antagonizing His Grouchiness.

We don't actually have any horses so we will most likely use the pastures for our chickens and the dogs. If our landlady allows, we may also look into getting some goats in a year or two but that will take further securing the fences. We actually looked at the inside of the place today (the lady doesn't live in the area and had to drive down to show us) and it sounds like we'll be putting down the deposit and working out any additional details over the next few days.

I've kind of been vacant from checking up on journals/etc. lately but what are you doing for work that you get the chance to travel? And no worries, if you ever do visit, we'll give a good layout of step by step stuff for dealing with high anxiety/fear dogs. The amount of space we'll have for Dougal to wear himself out will hopefully help with being so freaked out about visitors.

Wow, nice! Milk or meat goats? My friend's mom and sister just moved up to Northern California with similar ambitions. Very cool.

I'm in school for beauty and SFX makeup! So it depends on whether my career will involve location shoots and stuff. I'm glad to hear space might help, some good friends of mine have a high anxiety dog as well and it seems that they've had luck with getting him to run around more, too. What kind of dog is Dougal?

I think Leigh wants to get a few boer nubian hybrids so they are dual purpose. :> It probably won't happen for some time but I am looking forward to the possibility. For now, the chickens are having a field day running around in the pasture and the brush surrounding it.

That sounds super awesome. For a while I was thinking about getting into SFX makeup, at the very least for photography purposes, but it's one of the many things on my list that I don't have time for. :< It sounds like that will be an exciting career though.
