My girlfriend is out of town attending a family funeral and I've been sitting at home alone this evening while she stays with family. It made me think of funerals I've attended in the past, especially of a certain young lady that I was engaged to be married to years ago. She lost her life in a car wreck. She was born and raised in Lompoc and when her father retired as a prison guard out there somewhere they all moved to this area because her mother was from here. At some time or another she told them that if anything ever happened to her that she wanted to be creamated and her ashes spread in the ocean near there and they carried out her wishes. I'm happy that her wishes were carried out but feel bad that I could never visit the place where she is. I feel I need to go out there and basically say bye. As long a trip that would be I would like to do more than one thing while out there. I may go to Califur one year then swing by before heading home. I may be wrong but I don't think there is that much distance between the two places.
