Strange reasons to not work
Just wondering.... what is the dumbest, alternatively the strangest or most unbelievable reason you've ever heard to call in sick for work?
I used to work in a repair shop, and they took on a new guy. I spent 1-2 weeks teaching him how to repair cameras. He was a very anxious man who stressed easily, and called in sick often.
My favourite reason?
"I can't come to work today because I had a bad dream."
Not. Kidding.
The other example... possibly the worst excuse EVER to not turn up for work is from somebody else, but... it's completely mental.
"I was going to work, but then the train I was on made a sudden stop, causing my lungs to fill up with asbestos and I had to go home."

C: Can I go home? I forgot to feed my goldfish.
M:No
C: But... they'll die!
M: *looks him straight in the eye.* Let. them. Die.
"I'm calling in because I found out my dog was matted and I have to take him to a groomer's."
"We work at a petstore, ----. Take him to the groomers here."
"...oh."
Fucking stupid. Regardless, he didn't show up.
Ever.
Probably from shame.
Have to add another one I just remembered, back in ye olden school days. it's not just an "excuse" as such, but stupid:
- I can't come to school today, because my turtle is sick.
- Uhm, okay?
- I need to take it to a vet, do you have a driver's license?
- Nope, plus... I'm in school right now?
- But do you have a car so you can drive me?

Guy above was the first person to go when we had to cut down on staff. He made stupid excuses all the time. "I had a nightmare", "I'm feeling sad", "I'm stressed out by all the work that has piled up while I was home and depressed." It was like talking to a highschool emo.
essentially... he stayed home for shit reasons and then called in more sick because of the heaps of work he'd have to do when he came back...
clincher?
HE WAS 35 YEARS OLD.
