FWA 2013 Con Report
Now that I'm unpacked and settled in from the weekend, guess it's about time to talk (brag? bemoan?) about my time.
Generally, I had a great time this weekend. FWA has always been a fun, well run con. Major kudos to Tigerpaw for landing the Westin Peachtree Plaza as the con hotel. The higher room capacity and larger con space really helped the con grow by leaps and bounds over last year. It's really true that cons grow into the space you put them in. Last I heard from the staff, the hotel was over 80% booked through the weekend, an amazing feat considering the vast amount of space they had to offer. Packing in and managing the flow of over 2000 furries (I didn't get an exact count from staff before I left) is no easy task, and a few hiccups aside, everything went rather smoothly.
But yeah... hiccups. While having the one tower as opposed to last year's two made finding people and parties easier, it led to more than frequent (dare I say constant) logjams at the elevators. 10 elevators heading to 2 groups of floors didn't seem to be enough when attendees were left to their own devices. Despite the best efforts of the staff to try and enforce some semblance of order, folks were left waiting for an elevator for 30 minutes or more at times. Granted, we had a bargain booksellers show going on alongside us, so that wasn't helping matters.
Otherwise, it was great seeing folks I haven't seen since last year's FWA or FF, as well as folks I hadn't yet met in person. I can't name you all, in one journal, but rest assured I love you all and you truly made this weekend a great one for me. Despite everything, I had a whole lot of fun this weekend, and am really glad I got to go to this con again. Hope I can make it next year!

PS: I lost my wallet on Level 5 near the bar on Saturday. It's a brown leather tri-fold with a small anchor emblem on the front bottom right corner. If you or anyone you know located it, please contact me or the FWA staff. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe next year I will go to FWA as my first convention, and I did notice many furries on Twitter at FWA talking about the elevators.
