Post FWA Report!

You want to know what professionalism means?
I have finally returned the sun shiny state after spending probably what was the best weekend I have ever had yet at FWA up in Atlanta. Wow...just wow, I am not going to be forgetting anything that happened there for a very long time! Thanks to all of you fuzzies and volunteers that made this con just an absolute blast to go to and I am looking forward to next year.
Wednesday:
Yes I am counting this as one of the days since this is the day that I arrived at the con hotel! This day started at about 3am with the long and enduring drive up to Atlanta with
and Muffy. Even though it was super early and we were driving until pretty much midday, it was totally worth getting there a day early in order to get a feel for the hotel/conspace. Saying this right now this hotel, The Westin Peachtree, was absolutely massive with a total of 73 floors. After getting our room situated we took a small tour of the hotel which included a ride up in the glass elevator all the way up to the 72 floor. An absolutely breath taking view from up there. After that Azul decided it was time to suit up and become the first fursuiter at the con and to my knowledge she was and I have photograph proof. Though
was very close to being first, maybe next time buddy.
also was walking around for a bit too and man oh man did he live up to his nickname of the cotton candy husky though he tried to deny it. Not too much else happened for that day except for our other roommates showing up and the furs starting to invade.
Thursday:
Things definitely started to heat up on this day. I started early with needing to get up in order to meet an old friend from Megaplex
and also
who is just as awesome. Guys I am going to say this now, it was the best hanging with you this con. Alec it was wonderful to catch up and get to just finally have a chance to get to know you a bit better. Enigma it was a joy to get to know you as well and I really hope we have a chance to chill together in the future whether at a another con or not. Turns out I would spend most of the con wandering around with one of these two and it was just a blast to. Still pretty quiet in the morning through midday as many furs were still arriving. Soon enough it was time for myself to get all registered in andl let the joys of the pre-reg wait line began. It was pretty long but thankfully there were some fursuiters walking around providing some happiness for us while we waited like
(aka Tekotter)
and a few others. Though I would have to say the free Muscle Milk was undoubtedly the most entertaining thing while we waited as Alec went a little crazy with it, video to come later. But that spawned a running joke throughout the rest of the con as Jefferson Steelflex was born! This was also the beginning of "elevatorcon" as we quickly realized that the elevators were not designed to handle the mass amount of people at once in the hotel. That was really the only majorly persistent problem throughout the entire con but eventually we learned tricks such as "Staircon." Thursday didn't have too much going on as most people were still getting themselves situated but by the time the dances came around it was definitely a lot more lively.
threw down an absolutely pulse pounding set along with all the DJs that night.
Friday:
I think somebody should have taken my camera that day because something impulsed me to take as many photos as I could which rounded out to be around 301 photos >.> but anyways all of those things aside, this was definitely when the con was in full swing as fuzzies and friends littered each and every hallway. I spent most of the day once again wandering about with Alec and Enigma which wasn't a problem with me for I got to meet up with a lot of furs that I probably wouldn't have normally. It was pretty much just craziness everywhere and nowhere was really safe. Sadly I wasn't able to make it any of the panels or the fursuit games but next time I will definitely try to make it to the games at least. It's kinda hard to single out many significant happenings on these days since they went by in such fast blurs but one thing I do remember was Takum's set that night for the dance. He blew the roof off with his set and probably had the biggest crowd of people there yet. It was quite a sight to be able to sit on the main stage and just see this massive crowd of people jumping, dancing and doing whatever else they wanted. Saying this right now if you go to a con and you see Takum as one of the DJ's for a dance make sure you get your fuzzy butt to it for you will not regret it in the slightest. I know I didn't.
Saturday:
This was the day that almost killed my camera but thankfully it lived long enough to get what I needed down on video. Saturday was the day of the parade and me being my normal self. I almost slept in to where I wouldn't have been able to get a good spot for it. Thankfully I managed to make it down as all the fursuiters had to started to crowd around the doors to main ballroom, which was the main events/dance location. Soon enough the group photo was shot and the parade went on its way. It was a pretty short route but considering how the conspace was on a total of 5 different floors it was the best they could do and man there were a lot of suiters there. I didn't get an exact number of suiters but I want to say it was around 500 or so. It quieted down for a while after that but it didn't last long for the St. Patricks Day parade was going on almost right after our parade finished! Quite a few suiters were outside getting pictures with the green clad patrons of Atlanta before they had to scurry back inside to cool off. Soon after that was Floor Wars and my goodness was that quite a spectacle to watch. I am going to say though I did enjoy the shoe twirling dance that Four did was probably the best dance there. From there it was onto the Dance Competition. A huge thank you to Alakai to saving me a seat right up in the front row so I could film. The Dance Comp blew my mind and major props to all of the dancers that put on an amazing show. A lot of unique and creative dances this time around and thankfully my camera managed to power through it and record the entire thing pretty much except for the judge's decision on the winners. Those videos will be uploaded at a later date which I will post a journal here to let you all know.
Sunday:
The last day of the con but that doesn't mean it was any less excited as the rest. It started out pretty slow though and I found myself in the game room for most of the day as I got sucked into watching the MvC3 tournament which
just dominated everybody with no mercy shown. Almost immediately after that was done I ran into
who was just wandering about as well. He came into the game room and started to give some "pep talks" to the League of Legend players. It was about then I noticed a large group of suiters heading out of the lobby and quickly shouted to Izzy that we should go see what was going on. Apparently it was fursuit walk into the city for a little while with quite a few suiters such as
and many others. Also Revit was running around with his camera so I may have wound up in his FWA video by accident >.>
On the way back to the hotel though, things started to get a bit strange at least. By the time we got back to the hotel there must have been at least two ambulances, a firetruck, and 10 cop cars out front with the whole street blocked off. Apparently somebody called about a hurt police officer in the hotel but it turned out to be a prank call or something, who knows. In my opinion I believe might have swatted us but oh well, it didn't put too much of a damper on things. By this time closing ceremonies had begun and on my way to it I ran into, Takum, Tek,
, and Dashing once again. I joined them for dinner and then spent the last of con with Tek and he wound up being the last two photos of the con that I took.
All in all, FWA was just amazing in every which way possible, even with the horrid elevators and unorthodox conspace, the staff made it all work so well. I had such a blast and I know I will be getting my fuzzy butt there next year but for now I have many photos to upload from the days so be prepared!
