Ok so update.
I got my art safely saved (I hope!) but my comp is basically evil now. It has started to freeze in safe mode when I was moving data, and it did some scary blue screens. I don't have repair CDs to reload a harddrive so Its dead if that's the issue.
So now I'm on my old comp I blew up years ago and frankly I don't trust it. It stopped working then years after I gave up it is magically running...so I'm not sure if it will pull it again. If it dose I have ONE more old tower but my gameboy has more power then it so its basically just if I have to update another crash.
Now I need to get a new comp. :/ Good news is my screen is new so I just need the desktop. Bad news its still alot of money I have to gather.
I'm not going to ask for donations, don't believe in them. So I'm trying to think of other ways.
I could sell my last 40 IA spots, but the last few would be months out before I start, I would need to be paid now and I don't think I could sell all of them. :/
I could sell some of my character ideas as adoptables. It would be less stressful to finish or redraw them then the back and forth sketches I have to do per commission but again I don't think I would have much interest.
Or I could do some of both, or maybe a few prepose auctions...Its all up in the air atm.
I'm going to spend sometime this weekend seeing what I can do and just how much I'll need.

Wish I was there, I've dealt with data recovery for quite a while...
The one thing I want to suggest you is to check if it might be cheaper to replace just the faulting part (whether that's HDD or whatever) in your current PC. If it's really the drive, you can also consider using an external one via USB.

On the subject of commissions, you know we are patient -- take me, for example, I was waiting for a few months just to catch you open :)
I would send her my copy of vista 64 bit if it wasnt for it being one of those manufacturers. At this point I think the best solution is a cheap new pc. Since she just replaced her video card I am going to find a good i5 system without a video card, keep it under $500 if I can help it. She doesn't want to build it herself as she is afraid of messing things up.

Otherwise, she can use a non-customized (i.e., actual market copy of Windows installation) with the serial number she has printed on the license cert attached to her PC.
The OEMs do not use those printed codes, but their internal VLKs. And those printed codes do not work with customized OEM Windows versions, but work with stock versions.
Either way, I can point to the tools and DLs to do it.
But you are right, I could get a manufacturers discimage. Burn it and install on one of my old hard drives and send it to her.
I REALLY want to get something from you, I'll have to keep my eyes glues to your page and see if I can't snag something sometime. @.@
I hope you can get things sorted out with your computer though, PC issues are a pain for sure!
